The same way David Macauley's idiotic, mastodon-concerned sidebars pointlessly interrupt an otherwise informative children's book, Toe (and Yoko Noge's avant-garbage, in particular) contributes nothing to the cause it aligns itself with. Like a joke you have to explain, Variant is very little effort, effortlessly wasted.
what are the possibilities that two post-rock bands called toe debuted on the 2000s? probably low, but is sooo easy to know which toe you are listening since one is good and the other one isn't. Now, I like albums. I like it when it when albums invoke a certain feeling. It doesn't always have to be completely digestible, but I like some structure here and there. What I can tell from this, is that it's a whole bunch of nothing that doesn't exist. That's the feeling I get from this thing.
