The more lavish soundscapes, moving slowly against the twinkling stars, are the sonic equivalent of a warm bath, providing music to dive into and lose yourself in.
The Devil's Walk creates a compelling mix of programming virtuosity, songcraft, and plaintive vocals, with spastic blips fluttering amid languid string washes, while a mechanical scrim obscures and accentuates the underlying emotions.
It’s an exposition of how to create a new sound and how to do it at a level that connects with the listener.
A meticulously-crafted electro baroque pop album, The Devil’s Walk strives to be grand but is best left for solitary listening.
In the end, the record is a disjointed listen.
While The Devil's Walk may not be an absolute blemish on the Apparat discography, those who found his earlier works so rewarding will find that this album unfortunately pales in comparison.
The Devil's Walk can be as persuasive and intoxicating as you want it to be. The acute complexity of temptation inevitably boils down to a simple yes or no. You'll take to this record or you won't.
Brain juices go brrrrrrr, I like this, some good ol brain tickle music, apparat got some interesting apparatus for affecting me, and it works, this is a certified hood classic of an album, the run from Goodbye to the end of the tracklist is sooo big
wow this is incredible.
the atmospheres and soundscapes this album are wonderful, i am definitely going to revisit this during relaxing on long drives or during art.
theres genuinely not a lot to say about it other than this really hits the mark for me!

Well it’s weaker and not as good as walls but this was pretty good anyway. The Devil’s Walk is a good Indietronica album from Apparat that blends in Ambient Pop and Glitch Pop. I gotta give a big shoutout to Ash/Black Veil though that track was really good and probably my favorite on here but yeah this album is still generally good. This ... read more
