Cascade/The Deluge is a wondrous work that is so richly rewarding. At its core lies a heart that reaches out to you, takes your hand, and shows you a future that is golden.
It has endless variation at the micro level, which creates the sense of a paradox—repetition that is impossible to grasp, slipping ceaselessly through your fingers.
Strucked a chord in me. Quite an emotional trip through a seemingly repetitious land of large bodies of water colliding with the darkness of the night.

Cascade by William Basinski is a 40 minute soft, fluid piano track that may drag on longer than it needs to. As we've come to expect from Basinski, there's a deep sense of despondency in this one track record. Some sort of inexplicable tragedy seems to underlie the unceasingly repetitious piece. The track is a 20 or so second clip repeated over and over again and as we've come to expect from Basinski, this loop doesn't ever feel tired. Somehow, Basinski can hold our attention.
