Def in the mom rock territory for sure but that opening track is amazing and the album's folky alternative sound is very well executed, very smooth. I vibe with Dylan

Decent but not super memorable.

I didn't even realize the singer was Bob Dylan's kid til just now tf

I completely forgot this album existed for the longest time, it was collecting dust in the back of my mind until I finally caved and listened to it. Bringing Down the Horse definetly has its moments, specifically the first two tracks, but I really can't find myself remembering most of it, like its already fled my mind by the end.

Overall, a good album that I can't find myself revisiting other than One ... read more

just a bunch of well made inoffensive late 90s rock songs mot much to it than anything else, first two tracks are absolutely generational though

Similar to (I’m assuming) everyone else who purchased this record, I did so for “One Headlight”. As the lead off track, it’s here front and center. I really didn’t know of the Jakob Dylan connection until after I’d heard the song and made my purchase - so, I suppose that speaks to song quality over ‘star power’ or some other outside factor driving my buying decisions. In digging back into my catalog, it’s interesting to see just how much ... read more

Very strong start. Most of this record after that is just alright, nothing really sticks out for being really bad or really good.

Pretty nice folk rock record. The songs did start to get a little samey/forgettable halfway through, however.
Favourite song: The Difference

A whole new sound, kind of a pioneer for that era. The rock and folk and alternative styles blend together incredibly to make a bipolar album that is pretty unforgettable. Specifically the first track, One Headlight is a masterpiece of music, blending the rock influences in the album with the melancholy reflection of the folk styles. Each track on the album alternates between these two but One Headlight strikes the perfect balance. Its success is completely deserved. Other favorites are Three ... read more

The only album with country themes I would choose to listen to. One headlight is one of my favorite songs OAT.

I remember my dad playing this album in the car numerous times, one of my favorites oat.

Flashes of Bob both vocally and narratively and a killer lead track is not enough to carry this roots-tinged 90's rock record to heights any greater than rock solid. While there's no truly bad cuts to be found here, (one could argue against the songwriting of God Don't Make Lonely Girls, and I do) there's also really one standout - the previously mentioned radio hit One Headlight. Everything else is an enjoyable listen, but it's easy to lose this album in the wash of ... read more

The kinda album that someone’s dad would like a lot but only because of nostalgia and not because it’s actually that good.

I just listened for the first time today because I had it on CD and yeah idk, it's definitely not my genre ig. It sounded just a bit too boring country-esque for me. The cover art was very intriguing to me and was honestly cooler than the album itsself. Like I said, not my genre, so my review doesn't necessarily indicate a poor quality of music for this genre, it simply indicates that I did not really like this record. The first track was by far the best and all the others were just kinda ... read more

A breakthrough success; The Wallflowers' sophomore effort features the hit singles "One Headlight" and "6th Avenue Heartache," with a sound that blends rock, folk, and Americana influences.

If the whole album kept the inertia of the first half it'd be an easy 100 for me.

This album is a surprisingly pleasant album. After their debut album flopping, The Wallflowers decided to release “bringing down the horse” which turns out to be a major success because of the hit single “One Headlight”, which is an amazing track. Other great tracks are “6th Avenue Heartbreak”, “Invisible City”, and “I wish I felt Nothing”. The difference is a banger, and the other ones i mentioned are sad tracks. And all the other ... read more
