Ridiculously good Crabcore album and a big improvement from Attack Attack's debut, which still has their highest highs of their career such as the LEGENDARY Stick Stickly! or even What Happens If I Can't Check Myspace When We Get There?, but it missed consistency.
The self-titled record over here is fun. Very fun. There are a few ridiculous tracks, absolutely, but that's to be expected from an Attack Attack! album of this era. Outside of the jarring ... read more
Such a crazy improvement from 2008's Someday Came Suddenly. This album was a little late to the metalcore party, but it came in a really unique way. It had this electronic pop element to it that was really bizarre and funny. It was like the most brutal Ke$ha you had ever seen. Beyond the humor, you had these oddly infectious hooks. You found yourself coming back to it the same way you find your way back to Of Mice & Men, Daylight, or A Day To Remember. It's got this fun bounce and ... read more
way more fun and somewhat less crab core than Someday came Suddenly. though there’s a handful of myspace-y breakdowns on here there’s still like a nice good batch of electronic fun (the best track here is “Shut Your Mouth”, sorry!) the worst track here is definitely “Lonely”, first track from Attack Attack that made me frown visibly
but like, is Attack Attack even bad? or do people just hate the era it’s from? we will learn the answer soon
Much better.
Attack Attack!'s self-titled sophomore effort is an improvement over the debut one way or another. It definitely sounds like the band maturing around this time. Mostly because of Austin Carlile's departure to form Of Mice & Men (and being a really problematic person to be around) and having Johnny Franck on clean vocals and Caleb Shomo on lead vocals. And they do a good job replacing him. The screaming has been significantly improved over the debut imo. It no longer ... read more
Much improved over the debut, and has very catchy songs with infectious hooks and fuckin' hilarious breakdowns. If you hate this, they won lol.
This shit got me in a :3 :P mood, I will not elaborate.
Instrumentals are solid if not a bit silly, lyrics are pretty silly too. Also what is it with these silly bands having the hardest breakdowns ever.
The softer songs kinda suck though, and there are quite a few really awful song titles.
Some bad stinkers but also some pretty great tracks as well. I'd easily recommend a good amount of the tracks on this thing like Sexual Man Chocolate, AC-130, Smokahontas, and Turbo Swag (despite the awful song titles). It's a nice, fun, quick, and heavy record that has some of its best moments when that's when it sticks to, and conversely some of the worst when it tries to deviate from that like with the track Shut Your Mouth, which is just plain awful.
A fresh taste of Scene music, exceeding my expectations.
I don’t know… I don’t have much hope when it comes to Metalcore at all.
Maybe it’s because it’s mostly corny and repetitive, but if you dig deep enough into the genre, there are some gems, like “Attack Attack!”.
It’s messy and fun, unexpected at some parts even, unpredictable is a better word, and I like that aspect a lot.
“Sexual Man Chocolate” is a great opener that ... read more
MORE ATTACK ATTACK BOYS
Sexual Chocolate Man has a pretty groovy metal part that i can fully get into right now. This kinda gets a pop vibe for me and i’m really here for it. We’re really starting off with a banger.
Renob, Nevada is a great metal song. I like that they decided to go away from the electronic elements for this song and just go full on heavy
I Swear I’ll Change is pretty fire. These instrumental parts feels like it could be in a orchestra. Sure it ... read more
The self titled Attack Attack! album is a mixed bag with some very great tracks mixed in with some odd ones very similar to Someday Came Suddenly. There's a lot of weird vocal techniques throughout this album with Caleb Shomo taking front and centre in terms of vocals on the album which gives it a more punk metal vibe rather than straight Metalcore. There is a great mix of both genres though that makes the album very fun and unique. The best tracks on here are hard to debate as most of ... read more
This album is a major improvement from its debut album as it gets rid of all of the awkwardness and takes itself kind of seriously for once. 100/100
as far as things go in the electronicore and trancecore scene, this is the peak of the mountain. it goes to show booting austin carlile from the band wasn't just good for moral reasons but also for musical reasons. caleb shomo and johnny franck both have an ear for this specific blend of sounds and it shows. admittedly this is a bit of an acquired taste so someone not into scene music or who thinks design the skyline's surrounded by silence music video is cringy isn't gonna think ... read more
This album smells like AXE Body Spray.
“Attack Attack” is a step up from Attack Attack!’s debut album. It’s more cohesive, it feels less gimmicky, and it just sounds better, but the charm and fun is still here. This is the kind of music I hoped they kept making instead of… whatever came next. Still, 2010’s “Attack Attack” is a genuinely good and thoughtful record.
Let me be honest, this album was actually good. This album was heavier than Someday Came Suddenly but still tried to keep the vibes of their previous album and I love Caleb's fry vocals in this one but still wished Austin wasn't a dick so he possibly could've stayed in this band and do vocals on this album. Overall, the album is good!
Fav tracks: Sexual Man Chocolate, Renob, Nevada, A for Andrew, Smokahontas, AC-130, Fumbles O' Brian
Bad tracks: Lonely
This album contains some of the most physically disorienting music possible. A little over halfway through I had to pause the record and take a break on it. The additions of some crunk-core tracks throughout the project certainly don't aid either.
I don’t get how this albums only ranked a 63. This was a huge step forward for Attack Attack!
some of the catchiest choruses i have ever heard and the creativity on this record is bar none. incredibly unique and has never been replicated. might need to be a "had to be there" album but this album aged gracefully in my opinion

Rerating Attack Attack! albums part 2. This is starting really well due to the fact that Sexual Man Chocolate went from my 4th lowest score to my favorite on this album.
Sexual Man Chocolate opens the album with a very cool and unique (to this genre) piano part, the rest of the song is also very good. Renob, Nevada also has some of the softer parts of this album while also having one of the better breakdowns, which leads to really sonically pleasing juxtaposition. For a lot of the ... read more
