Underworld is just one more piece of evidence for my confirmation bias that Symphony X is simply among the best progressive metal bands of all time.

There’s no debating that the band aren’t relinquishing their legacy without putting up a decent fight.

Symphony X's final album, at least at the time I'm writing this (fingers crossed for that 2026 release). Immediately I can say that this is an improvement over the rather dissapointing Iconoclast, there's still a heavier focus on here, but it doesn't come at the sacrifice of their other elements. It was good, but they’ve definitely done better. The album drops in quality about halfway through in my opinion and could’ve been shorter. I really hope this isn’t their last album

Nevermore would be the best song here if the chorus wasn't weak. Kiss of Fire is my fav cuz it has easily the best chorus and even then, only barely a 75+. I've only heard Paradise Lost-onwards but Underworld is def my least favorite of the Symphony X records I heard cuz there's a fair amount of weak choruses and moments that don't feel that heavy or interesting, often feeling kinda generic. Becomes kinda mid towards the last leg tbh.
