I found this to be an excellent late career record. Very consistent.
"Storm Son" opens the record with nature like ambiance and horns. It moves into a very soft post adjacent melody as it builds. Just before the 3 minute mark a heavier riff gets started, the track moves at a mid tempo pace with good melody. A little long, but this was a chill experience. I felt this one really hit the viking metal spot. The non-metal instrumentation is always welcome in my eyes.
listening to E again makes me like riitir less. this is riitir if the songs were more coherent, structurally there were more standout tracks than just roots of the mountain (that song itself is still better than any single song on here but still) and THERES A FUCKING SAX SOLO. THIS THING JUST DOES LAPS! that doesn't mean I'm hating on riitir, i still enjoy it, but this is just it's better in most every way.
