honestly this shit is so raw and dark if you told me it was some long-lost 2nd wave demo masterpiece i’d probably believe you. maybe a smidge too overbearingly depressing for my personal tastes - especially when the sort of awkward piano shows up in the 3rd track. but wow this shit sounds so good. if Endlhëtonëg feels like a mystical fae woodland, Ihum Johlduc is the dark, frozen forest tucked away in the mountains, untouched for centuries.
Trha in no particular order, pt 3:
This one grows on me with every listen. The riffs are absolutely incredible, backed by a flurry of blastbeats so crunchy they seem to rip holes in reality itself. Damian really shows off on their less surrealist, 'purer' black metal albums, tremolo picking at lightspeed with some wonderfully obscure, often creepy melodic flourishes.
