"Weaving The Incantation" hits with a very nice loud and progressive fury. I like the thick chunkier style here, it develops into a nice melodic section. The chorus is pleasant with good leadwork. The solo is drawn out and slithers like a snake. Lovely opener.
"A Servant" begins with another strong lead melody. A bit more power and speed in the structure. The guitar melody in this one is quite catchy and develops into a good solo as well. Great song. The title track opens ... read more
Started pretty strong but as it progressed it got weaker and weaker which was pretty disappointing as the first four songs are good and then the rest are okay at best with some highlights in those track's but nothing which warrants a higher score for those tracks. In my opinion this album sounds like if opeth was formed in America in like Cali but i know this band it from Finland but that just to me how it kind of sounds to me. Weaving the Incantation: Dramatic, grand, heavy, this is what I want from Amorphis!
A Servant: Vocals work really well here, a strong track with lots of emotion.
Silent Waters: Emotionally mature and aesthetically beautiful sound, not necessarily the most creative song but I still like it a lot.
Towards and Against: Not my favorite, feels a little generic and underwhelming compared to the first three songs.
