4 lives up to its own long-awaited hype with a truly triumphant return. Slash, Kennedy, and The Conspirators are performing at a latter career peak, one that can hold its own weight next to classic solo albums from Slash.

All in all this isn’t an album the best album that Slash, or indeed Myles, have ever put their names to. But it does everything you need it to, and that might just be enough.

I see this album not getting a lot of love. Does it soar near the heights of GNR?...Of course not. At this albums best is is better than GNRs worst. That doesn't exactly wreak of high praise, but considering how untouchable I consider anything pre '92 GNR, it should be taken as a compliment. I also have to preface this by saying that I've paid almost no attention to anything any of the GNR members have done outside of that band since. So I was pleasantly surprised with this release.
