While the band is noticeably young (in fact, the average age of the bandmembers is only 19 years old), they seem to have a firm understanding of their surroundings and have let nothing deter them from their goal of recording an excellent album.

I can honestly say, without a doubt in my mind, that this is one of my favorite nu metal albums of all time, and it has been for nearly 12 years now. I brought it up in my review of their long awaited second record Icarus Flight from last year, but Shine was the first song I heard of theirs back in 2014, it was in an underground nu metal compilation on YouTube, and the little snippet that played caught my ear enough for me to go check it out. Not the deepest album in the world but sometimes all you need is pure, unadulterated nu-metal fun. And in that regard, Stepa undoubtedly deliver in troves.
Stepa doesn't need to be deeper than it needs to be. At the end of the day these are chill moody alt vibes to kick it to. Just when things get to aggressive some commercial hip-hop scratches come in diffuse the situation. I just imagine two bros with Bleached tips bumping into each other in a pit and dapping each other up and saying "You good bro!?" it's music to jump on trampolines to. It’s so fucking peak, man 🥹
The sound feels nostalgic as well somehow, even though i found this for the first time like a couple years ago. Pure fun, so many insanely good choruses and riffs, cool ass record.
