what an awesome fucking album we've got. some of the best metal tracks of the year are here.
Woe starts hard and ends hard, it knows when to stop and take some deep breaths and when to go full beast mode. the playing and production is just pure magic from begginning to end, I'm really bamboozled with the drumming right here, those double-pedals hit like a truck. it may be a little lengthy sometimes, but still, it is an amazing album.
Woe more like, whoa this is a good album! Sometimes I feel like I've heard just about everything prog/melodic death has to offer, and most new releases just come off as reshuffling a bunch of old ideas. This album doesn't really do anything to dissuade that, but it's hard to complain when all of the usual tropes of the genre are done this impeccably well. The wait was worth it! Propably needed some time following up their masterpiece from 2016. So heavy and yet so moody and atmospheric at the same time. Will always be excited so see where this band is going next.
