Ashes Lie Still is probably the best thing Ingested have ever put their name to.
There is a great sense of improved songwriting on Ashes Lie Still. The thought process of how the songs are structured here shows major growth from the band’s humble death metal beginnings.
To me this album sounds like what I’d expect 90s death metal to progress into in the 2020s. The guitars and vocals on here have all of the timbre and tonality of older sounding brutal and slam death metal, but the production and drum sound is very adjacent to the modern era of metal. A solid record. There wasn't any mind-blowing things, but it wasn't something that I felt underwhelmed by. It could also be one of those that grow with a few more listens.
