"Ashes Lie Still", exhibits not a shred of compromise or conformity. This is still a sustained blast of the murderous, machine-gun violence that INGESTED have peddled from the start, but their songwriting has taken at least two giant steps forward this time.

To me this album sounds like what I’d expect 90s death metal to progress into in the 2020s. The guitars and vocals on here have all of the timbre and tonality of older sounding brutal and slam death metal, but the production and drum sound is very adjacent to the modern era of metal. Drums sound brutal and big and push forward the aggression in each track. A solid record. There wasn't any mind-blowing things, but it wasn't something that I felt underwhelmed by. It could also be one of those that grow with a few more listens.
