The EP shows a band still finding its strengths and developing its sound, unsure of its talent for cathartic drama ... The band generates tension and energy, but don't always recognize the best way to unravel it.
Pretty nice actually. You can tell they are just about ready to truly explore their sound.
An amazingly thoughtful and heartfelt release that is honestly, for me, a close second place in their discography.
Lyrics: heart-tugging, emotive, and evocative. Much of what makes Funeral (soon to come) so brilliant is its usage of imagery ("then I'll dig a tunnel / from my window to yours"). rough around the edges debut that showcases some of their best atributes and some meandering as well. This is probably the closest you can get to another funeral, it has the same vibes and the instrumentals resemble the ones on their debut LP with the constant melodies and switchs, the writing def got improved but this is no doubt an incredible EP
A sadly unimaginative release from one of the most interesting, respected bands of the time, it serves a purpose though and is a necessary listen to a fan, especially before hearing their debut album 'Funeral'.
