While more accessible than most of his previous work, the three pieces here are just as tormented, in particular the septic relentlessness of the 18-minute title track.
Some 15 years on from his first Prurient album, it is thrilling to still hear the vigor in his searching; in his questioning of restrictions and extending of freedoms.
It’s an accomplished one, and Fernow sometimes impressively commands the stylistic cues of the electronic musics he’s discovering.
There’ll always be room for expertly produced, noisy techno, and Through the Window is an example of the sound done to perfection – caustic, haunting and, despite everyone’s best intentions, almost fun.
If you take noise and add [insert electronic genre], it's gonna be a Beary Smash Hit. This trend continues with this album and it's techno sound. This might even be my favorite Prurient release overall to be honest. Prurient changes the style a bit with this album and introduces some techno into the discography. Like most/all of Prurient's other works the tracks have a very dark and unsettling feel to them but as for compositional quality goes this could very well be prurient's finest work.
