I definitely prefer the lighter, poppier approach of Paris 1919, but there’s something to be said for this rougher and rowdier and approach harnessing VU’s inner rocker
I like the slow rock songs such as "Buffalo Ballet" which makes me think of The Beatles, in particular the piano figure of McCartney's "Let It Be", the wonderful lukewarm "Emily" or the overwhelming "You Know More Than I Know". If it needed a choice of the 'Island trilogy' Fear, Slow Dazzle and Helen of Troy, I would prefer Paris 1919 from the year before, but Fear provides another nine fine songs ("Gun" could have been a little shorter, I don't ... read more
“Wait this isn’t Sister Ray.”
That was my first reaction upon hearing the first track. Then, I heard the rest of the album and you know what, I’m completely fine with this.
