This album was ahead of its time, there weren't really any bands that sounded quite like this in 1993. Jane’s Addiction and Helmet are the most obvious reference points but I can’t imagine either of those bands releasing this album so it certainly has its own flavour.
It’s a ‘wall of sound’ approach - so it takes a while for individual moments to stand out among the relentless onslaught.
Too heavy to be classed as grunge...too idiosyncratic to be categorised as alternative metal. Intriguing.
An interesting and unique but ultimately bloated and unfocused foray into heavy Alternative music. Scenes From the Second Storey is an over 70-minute ride that combines various Eps and original tracks for a pieced-together debut album.
