Electra 2000 gets often overlooked in Hum's discography, and it's easy to see why. From You'd Prefer an Astronaut onwards, the band developed a unique and fantastic blend of alt rock, space rock and shoegaze that's not easy to come by elsewhere, so it makes sense for their first two albums to be vastly overshadowed and mostly written off since they don't feature the sound the band is known for and excels at.

as i’ve never listened to hum before i’m kind of intrigued by this record. songs vary from each other, they are put up out of different sounds, but the base is always distorted guitar and loud drums. it’s hard to put into any genre, since there are elements of shoegaze, metal, grunge and they all combine in a way that doesn’t fully fit any. with the record itself - i really enjoyed this, my first listen of hum, it just works for my taste. in my opinion some of the parts ... read more
This album feels kinda like Soundgarden's early records in that it's basically just a metal album from a group that would quickly take metal and push it far beyond the genre, except this record is far more boring
The wrathful office worker vocals work really well. I'm annoyed at myself for not listening to Electra 2000 sooner
A very enjoyable album from the group, the instrumentals are great although can be a little samey at times, and I do wish the volume of the vocals was raised up a bit
