Gosh, this has gotta be the most earnest and heartfelt album I've ever heard. I got chills several times listening to this. The songwriting is lush, the lyrics make me ache, and the vocals are simple and effective. I also think the orchestration adds a lot without doing too much. This is one of those life-changing records, I swear.

i forgot to review this album earlier but i love how it went against society's norms at the time, it was such a soulful and emotional yet precise and strategical way to tackle issues.

Roberta Flack isn't as widely recognized today as some of the singers in her peer group but that doesn't stop her recognizing herself and her talents. She meets or surpasses her career standouts like Killing Me Softly and The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face non stop across this album. No saving any greats to headline her next record. There's love in every stitch of this and has no fluff. Makes it all the more comfortable to try it on again.
