Whether you’ve been a longtime fan of Slow Pulp or are just discovering their enchanting sound, Yard is a must-listen experience that will linger in your heart and mind long after the final notes have faded. It’s undoubtedly one of the standout albums of the year.
Yard is the sort of album that surprises with how simply and fundamentally excellent it is. It doesn’t shock, it invites, making you feel as if you know every corner of the record even on its first play.
Slow Pulp effortlessly capture the intimacy of emotions and power of introversion, and with an album like Yard, the four-piece are solidifying themselves a legacy alongside greats of this temperament
Yard once again bares the soul of Slow Pulp intimately as they craft their signature style. Full of brooding emotion and haunting soundscapes, the band captivate and hold attention.
As a group that have faced their growing pains together, Slow Pulp strike the perfect balance between soft, thoughtful and loud on Yard.
It’s those little moments that best prove that Slow Pulp themselves have found that same type of sweetness, and with it they’ve delivered their best project thus far.
Yard is the stagnation and inaction of self-doubt, an indie drawl confidently built on ‘90s suburban nostalgia.
Similar to Moveys, the songs on Yard alternate between mellow acoustic ballads and fuzzy pop-punk anthems. But whereas the earlier album was full of light, poppy beats, there’s more nuance to be found in the saturated, driving hooks here.
Like that debut, Yard is succinct and to-the-point, half an hour of premium indie pop in the vein of maybe The Beths with a little Juliana Hatfield thrown in.
Thank you @BasedFizz for the recommendation!
Yard.... I chose it as im not exactly an indie fan.
My mood was flipped due to a phone call so I chose Yard to mix up my soul!!
Absolutely loved fishes, i loved the words.. "Looking at a past life on cd stand", absolutely loved that line..
This album i need to listen to again definitely, i liked it from the very beginning, it seemed a lot mellower than i was expecting.
2nd grade art class is fire
Solid indie! Good indie! Good indie is good! The last Slow Pulp album I enjoyed but there was something that I felt was missing, and this album fixed that quite a bit comparatively imo. Production is fantastic, and there are some really catchy songs. Absolutely love Gone 2, amazing opener and vibe setter. Love the vocals and again the production is super crisp. Cramps is a banger, that guitar tone is SNAzzy. Broadview and MUD are other tracks that I enjoyed. Good ... read more
I listened to this album on repeat in 2024 after a neighbor recommended the artist. I haven't craved it much since but it was refreshing revisit. I appreciate the simplicity of the album. It's the perfect simplicity. The music doesn't sound basic but rather calming. One thing that I really appreciate is how the album art matches exactly how the music sounds which I find is something that isn't super consistent within the indie genre. Too many album covers are either trying ... read more
