Man it’s been quite a bit since I’ve reviewed an album that’s similar in style to Boards of Canada or even Casino Versus Japan. Arovane’s Tides is a really good Downtempo IDM album that has a lot of the tropes of what you’d get from a Downtempo IDM album. What a great atmosphere this record has. A consistent and quality IDM release from a bygone era, when this type of dream-like ambient was at its peak — just before the genre began branching off into either glitch and microhouse (the likes of Farben – Texstar) or post-ambient/neoclassical electronica.
