Lamp cannot make a bad album, this record is constantly the most feel good shimmery jazz pop that they're known for. It's the same thing they've been doing their whole career but its far from unenjoyable, maybe the one that wears on you the most due to it being easily their longest, but I digress. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Very calm, very soft vocals. Overall so chill that it can be a bore to get through. Some good gems in this one though nothing too crazy

The bloated length of the album combined with the singular sound palate of all the tracks makes this a somewhat laborious listen to get through. It’s beautiful and is better than a lot of music, but it’s just too long and kinda boring in patches.

As I read these comments, I came in thinking that this album would be way below my expectations. And truly, I believe people rated this way worse than it really was. I can agree that it definitely doesn't have the traditional Lamp sound. There weren't many songs that stuck out to me, compared to their other songs. But it had its own sound. Rather than looking for common sounds from the other albums/singles, I listened to this with an open mind about a new era in their music. There were still ... read more

love the strings arrangements. maybe not the best Lamp album but definitely the coziest. tracks connects nicely so even 20 songs doesnt feel sore to listen

With this review, I can finally say that I've finished listening to Lamp's discography!

Admittedly going into this I wasn't very excited nor was I expecting a lot as their work prior to this in 2018, Her Watch, was a massive disappointment for me. That being said however I was pleasantly surprised with this piece of work.

I will say upfront that Someya's production carried this album HARD, it feels like from over their 20 years in making music he is the main character ... read more

The most recent Lamp album (from the year 2023) is Dusk to Dawn, is unfortunately their weakest outing to date, mainly based on it's extraorindary length (compared to the rest of their projects that is). I think the cozy atmosphere that Lamp has continued to cultivate has become somewhat synonymous with concise projects that can be consumed while doing household chores or something similar. This album is just way too long, and listening to this kind of music for that long (I mean well over ... read more

I've listened to everything else except this when i went to see them yesterday. (missed out on merch so gotta buy quadruple price on ebay). Happily i just sat down to listen to this and well... it was very good per usual. 1hr and 14mins seems kinda insane for a Lamp record but it works out pretty well. Track to track it flows so well you don't realize its nearing the end. The singing as well sounds absolutely amazing as much as their other records if not slightly better than some. ... read more

while definitely good, it simply just doesn’t evoke as much as previous lamp albums.

It could be better than Lamp's OTHER album, but Dusk To Dawn is too long in my opinion and I felt that several songs were repetitive.

REVIEWING MY OLD MUSIC TASTE #21
man i remember this first coming out and being so excited for it, just to be a bit disappointed. well those feelings still remain and while this is no where near a bad album by any means, it felt a bit lackluster. the vocals stay in range with what lamp has done in the past and doesn’t do anything new or interesting with it. sometimes it falls below average and starts to bore me but the production is alright. some parts it feels really stale but in some ... read more
