Taken out of an opportunistic context, as simply a set of previously released Michael Jackson songs, Scream certainly is no substitute for any of the best studio albums or proper anthologies unavailable at seasonal strip-mall retailers.
This album works for Halloween but does not work in general for any day. A Michael Jackson fan would never choose this album as the first choice to put in the car and sing out loudly, shaking his shoulders at pace, as Michael Jackson for years has made us slaves to the rhythm.
