It’s truly amazing to see how far this band has come over the years, sonically, visually, and musically. If Children Of The Night was the awakening for Tribulation, Down Below is the album that will see the band take over the world, one victim at a time.
Down Below ... is the metal album to beat in 2018.
Down Below is incredibly athletic and fun, with every guitar solo, lyrical twist and musical turnaround delivered in boldface italics.
It remains to be seen whether Down Below will have significant replay value but everything sounds so meticulously crafted that each listen results in a different highlight. Everything that Tribulation seem to have lost in aggression, they have gained in haunting atmosphere and hooks.
Save somewhat of a flat end, Down Below is a great metal album that blends multiple genres into a perfectly idiosyncratic sound that should bring Tribulation much success and attention. Overall, the album could stand to take a few more risks, but for now that is something we can look forward in Tribulation's future.
Tribulation comes through with a pretty solid gothic metal album that you'll want to light your candelabra to.
the band start leaning more into a gothic sound. the instrumentation isnt as heavy but the song writing is still there. the bands sound is maturing more and more
Tbh my only complaint is that maybe I feel like Lacrimosa goes on for a bit too long. Like maybe this whole album could honestly b cut down a tiny bit and it would b a perfect run time. Sometimes I just feel a bit of dragging even if I do love the music. I see a lot of complaints about the vocals but honestly if if wasn’t for them idk if I would like this band as much as I do so far. Really separates em from other gothic metal acts that are trying to hard with the clean vocals u ask me. ... read more
I sincerely enjoy everything about their music except their unclean and growling-like vocals.
This would be my favorite band ever with vocals like Unto Others or The Night Eternal.
I would give way above 80 and re-listen to their albums multiple times but I can't stand these unmelodic shouted/growled vocals. Otherwise the guitar parts are superb, the progressions of their songs remain interesting and melancholic.
I wish they would decide for something else concerning their vocals...
