Hyperviolence has the energy of a band about to make it big.
Hyperviolence doesn’t try to be something it isn’t, rather, Windwaker takes their gusty and audacious attitudes and applies them to musical form, and such adventurous spirits are beautifully represented throughout.
Uhh, Windwaker are back after their first promising EP and a disappointing debut album "Love Language", this band had a lot to prove to me. I listened to most of the singles, some of them I liked, some of them, not so much. But I was still curious going into this, how the full experience would turn out.
On "HYPERVIOLENCE", Windwaker combines the elements of Metalcore, Alternative Metal, and Electronic elements. I don't understand why they claim to be Hyperpop-Metal ... read more
I have something I have to admit. The debut
Windwaker album "Love Language" was one of the first full albums I had listened to when I was getting into metal. I thought it was pretty good and I didn't really think much about it.
After not really getting into many popular metal bands, I decided to branch out to the more obscure ones and eventually decided to branch out to other smaller artists from popular genres. That is when I found out that I really liked the genre of hyperpop ... read more
They really gentrified metal and hyperpop with this one huh.
This genuinely might be the worst metal album I've heard all year, even worse than Wage War's record. I really wasn't expecting to love this or anything, but usually I can tolerate this stuff to a degree. Some of the songs on the second half of this album are laughably bad. One of the standout worst tracks of the album was Venom. There's some really cringe worthy rapping going on with that track, and it's all ... read more
Even though due to AOTY's weird ass website obligations, calling your deluxe edition the "Expansion Pack" is just awesome. The combination of genres here is masterclass; it brings some of the phonk and r&b that classics are made up of, and blends it together incredibly well with modern metal, with some ballads in and out. Windwaker's storytelling here is great and whatever futuristic, heavy and odd journey we're being taken on, I love it. For nearly an hour, ... read more
Oh man oh man, what a goddamn mess. I think there is genuienly a charm to this album, how can it be so bad that it becomes fun? The fun of this album isn't really a good thing though. The only good song here is SIRENS which is kinda crazy how such a good song can be thrown in such a bad album. The artwork is cool though.
man this is weird, and i am super split with this. on one hand i really like the hyper-pop & metalcore combo and it works on more than one occasion in this (SIRENS, Fractured State of Mind are my personal faves). on the other they kind of lose themselves with a lot of filler and just weirdly underwhelming songs throughout (Haunting Me, Venom and Juliet to name a few). this is a band i really want to like but this album seems to have a clear identity and still face a crisis on what it really ... read more
