From The New World is a bit of a mixed bag. ALLT clearly have plenty of tools in their possession to make an impact but some tracks tend to glide by without really striking a chord or leaving a lasting impression.

Living Chaos is the ideal length for this style of release. It hammers home its agenda in emphatic fashion without outstaying its welcome. It also displays Oceano at their potent best, not afraid to get creative and push their boundaries beyond the field of barbaric deathcore.

While you won’t find as much raw savagery as the likes of Death To The Holy and Götterdämmerung on GREIF, you will continue to experience the brilliant level of craftmanship which has been so ridiculously consistent through ZEAL & ARDOR‘s catalogue.

The Death Of Peace Of Mind just about does enough to bring itself back from the brink of boredom, but it takes a lot of persistence to wade through the lull and discover the gems at the closing stages.

There is a line between what constitutes extreme metal and an end product which feels like an unstructured mess. There are sparks to entice you hidden amongst the waves of volatile ferocity but overall the ‘throw a tonne of notes at a fretboard to see what sticks’ approach grows tiresome quickly.
