I don't understand how the track ratings are so much higher than the album rating. This shit's gorgeous, the production is immaculate, Jorja Smith has mastered the art of making you want to dance and cry simultaneously. I love this album, it's beautiful.
Yeah the duo of Danger Mouse and Black Thought are about as good as we all assumed. Unfortunately there is a Russ feature, but aside from that this shit is amazing. The Aquamarine beat feels like it came straight from Django, A$AP Rocky holds his own entirely next to RTJ, DOOM is amazing. This album is going to get looked back on a lot.
As a huge fan of Slowthai since he dropped Nothing Great About Britain, I was greatly anticipating this project. Safe to say I wasn't disappointed. For the third time in his three projects, Slowthai takes an approach that doesn't sound like his last. UGLY is a borderline post-punk, hip-hop album, which somehow works brilliantly. Slowthai manages to keep the same aggression he's known for, whilst also making deeply emotional tracks that barely even sound hip-hop influenced. This project could've ... read more
A truly amazing, one of a kind, immersive experience. Kendrick takes you through his adolescent years, and takes a very introspective approach. the narrative is clear, and well executed throughout. Production is top tier, and Kendrick does what Kendrick does. The best feature on here by a mile is Jay Rock on Money Trees, a verse written by Kendrick. Poetic Justice is a miss for me, but I don't think many agree with me there. Black Boy Fly, The Recipe, and Now or Never, which are on the deluxe ... read more
There's nothing I can say that you haven't heard. TPAB is a 10/10, it's perfect. That is all.
The production is insanely good. Joey, and the rest of PE are fantastic through every verse on this. It's unreal Joey made this at 17. Steez is a huge bright spot on every track he's involved in. I can't totally explain what makes this album so damn good for me, but it is. It can be a casual listen that you throw on in the car, or you can put headphones on, and dissect every line. It's aggressive, it's calm, it's emotional, this album just does everything for me. Maybe not highly conceptual, ... read more
High highs, but honestly Yah, Loyalty, Humble, Love, and God don't do much for me. The great tracks certainly pick up the slack, but there are some misses for me. Lyrically, conceptually, and sonically this album is wonderful, but as I said, it's hurt by tracks that just miss. That being said no song has ever made me want to shoot someone, throw the gun in their lap, and then walk to the court like bitch I did that, until now.
This one grew on me, but for every A$AP Forever, Praise The Lord, Purity, etc. There's a Calldrops, Brotha Man, etc.
I'm biased as all hell on this one, but I don't care. This is probably my favorite album ever. The production is beautiful, and Mac's pitchy vocals are perfect for the sound and subject matter of this album.
Their most underrated aside from Amnesiac IMO. 2+2=5 is an incredible opener, Sail to the Moon is gorgeous, There, There is incredible, as is A Wolf at the Door, and this entire tracklist doesn't have a full on skip for me. A couple tracks don't hit as much as the others, but I still enjoy them. Regardless, this still ranks 7th amongst Radiohead albums for me, but this is more of a testament to how good their other work is, rather than dismissing this album.
I don't think I need to explain why this is my most played album of the last 5 years.
I have a harder time putting my thoughts into words with this album than any other from Radiohead. It's just beautiful. Emotionally devastating and sonically gorgeous.
