writing isn't as great as her best but I still rlly love this

Shelly - Shelly 2
70

had no clue what this was and said "this just sounds like clairo" and here we are

offensive. slut pop miami for straight men (closeted version). each new song had me bracing for impact
highs: none
lows: mystical magical

beabadoobee - This Is How Tomorrow Moves
70

she does great when she leans into the more rock sound, overall not a bad album just kinda falls victim to the oversaturated more boring indie pop writer thing at times. oddly reminds me of early taylorswift and even kacey musgraves
highs: beaches, ever seen
lows: the man who..., coming home

Lana Del Rey - Blue Banisters

half is great, but when he leans into rock too much it doesn't work for me
highs: uptown girl, leave a tender moment alone
lows: careless talk, christie lee

Joni Mitchell - Court and Spark

very enjoyable but falls off at the end it went too far into the westerny jazzy thing but overall good
highs: free man in paris, down to you
lows: twisted, raised on robbery

Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly

I like the vibe, few standout tracks, majority of it is middling but not bad
highs: storms, Sara
lows: tusk, not that funny

Britney Spears - Blackout
90

the concept of Britney Spears being the blueprint for everything. definitely her most solid album every song was captivating. even the rare times where one element was boring, something else always made up for it. a testament to her creative direction
highs: gimme more, radar
lows: hot as ice

On Chorde's review of Taylor Swift - The Life of a Showgirl
"she stays relevant because her fanbase loves all the lore. like you mentioned, the all too well 10 / Jake gyllenhall drama was all the rage and her career has only been up from there. the tortured poets department is her most detailed and raw album and spent 17 weeks at #1. her writing progression from fearless to evermore keeps people hooked because yes there is a clear evolution and you feel like you are watching this girl you know grow up. there is no interesting lore presented on this album. even on lover (her 2nd weakest album) there is so much anxiety in the songs that has made it more interesting over the years. this album is just one note and has no depth, but I dont think she's completely done for she just needs to live a little."
