very exciting first listen but I really don't see myself ever coming back to this
edit: yeah this basically sums it up. technically very good music , you know? I understand why people love this and I think it is very 'good' it's just not the sort of thing I see myself listening to in the future. Keep it up BCNR!
Classic and so much better musically than anyone admits. Super influential too, just a massive project tbh.
Reviews on this are saddd man this has aged so much better than most of his work it's probably my favorite Skrillex project at this point. It's so much more detailed and crazy than some of his later production and most of these tracks are absolutely bursting with ideas. My favorites are the title track, fucking die 2 and with you, friends. The way Skrillex plays with rhythm on this EP is just nutty. Electro Skrillex is the best Skrillex.
Really strong lyrically. While there isn't a TON of variety among the instrumentals, I think it works to create a sort of spoken word atmosphere. This would kill on a long walk or hike I think. I've spent a couple short walks to class with this album and it's both contemplative and upbeat. It has a good drive and again lyrically it's great. Worth a listen!
cannot rate yet but need to get this somewhere on my AOTY. This album is amazing I just can't put numbers to it rn.
edit: yeah this is incredible. can see this becoming a 100 sometime in the future
I think this is my favorite DG release. I know music is not objective at all, but I think 'e' is the most interesting and well thought out project, executing well on multiple clear and interesting ideas. Maybe it's the "best" drain gang album because of this, but regardless I think the music is really really good.
I almost made a video about this album, but the sentiments here materialized into a new project. That said, I still really enjoy this little essay/script thing and I'm thankful for the personal growth I went through because of this project. I put timestamps for where I was gonna say stuff. You can listen along if you want, you'll just have to do a bit of waiting :)

Just hauntingly gorgeous. I learned of this album from my friends at school, just as I left to live back at home due to the coronavirus pandemic. As though this album wasn't emotional enough, coming back to my silent suburban town from NYC and taking walks through empty streets where the world felt thousands of miles away was... intense. This album + a bike ride through the streets you grew up on is a pretty powerful experience. Bridger's voice is totally gorgeous. I can't come up with a good ... read more

I only just got into Tame Impala last year when my roommate showed me currents. I had written it off as stoner music for ages but it kind of blew me away when I finally gave it a chance. I felt like I finally got it, and with new singles dropping every month or so, I felt lucky that I got into the band at the perfect time to experience a new album drop - I was ready to hop on the Tame Impala hype train. That is, until I realized that this was a five year long hype train following a fairly ... read more
