This record may not be that creative or diverse from a purely vocal standpoint, but Arlo Parks shows some excellent songwriting on her debut album Collapsed in Sunbeams.

Production is really good on this record, can’t complain. There wasn’t anything experimental or an instrumental that had me off my seat but there were a lot of great baselines and drum patterns that fit so well of the hybrid Neo-Soul/Bedroom Pop sound that Arlo was trying to deliver on this record. My favourite ... read more

Madlib, who is my favourite hip hop producer of all time continues to master his craft on his latest project Sound Ancestors.

Hip hop fans should know who this man is and what he is about. I am not going to go over how iconic his past projects are as the main producer or his projects released as his alter ego, Quasimoto. One thing that needs to be noted when describing Madlib is that he has always been really versatile with his sound always willing to look at new avenues to master his ... read more

Erykah Badu combines great lyrical abilities with a groovy atmosphere on her standout record Mama’s Gun.

The production on this album was really good and it is expected to be as Root’s members James Poyser and Questlove had the majority of the production on this album with some great appearances by J Dilla. The production was very versatile as we have some excellent groovy tunes like on the first two tracks Penitentiary Philosophy as well as one my favs of all time in Didn’t ... read more

A Seat at the Table highlights Solange’s brilliant sequencing methods and great storytelling narratives.

Solange’s conceptual ability throughout this album is the real glaring highlight of this record as she displays excellent viewpoints about racism, self-worth, being a woman in this era and relationships. The song Don’t Touch My Hair is the perfect blend of great symbolism and conceptualism as well as raw storytelling narratives. This song is all about respect and ... read more

I’ve heard great things about this new one by Arlo Parks, definitely on my list for upcoming listens! I’m pretty divided when it comes to what I think this year’s effects will have on the music output. I think that due to lockdown, a lot of artists can get to work on stuff but also due to lockdown, they might miss inspiration or make work that evokes feelings that are shared by so many more artists at the same time, which will make for a possible musical and emotional redundancy in music. But hey, only my prediction and I don’t really know what will happen, so only time will tell!

Hello there! What is an album that you've given a 100 score, and why so?

Simple explanations are fine enough, but detailed reasoning is of course welcome. If you have multiple 100s, then just pick one of them as your answer. It's for a list by the way. Thanks in advance, and have a great day!
