There's definitely growth on The Messenger compared to his past work, but there are so many weird lyrics about him piping his wife and some pretty weak beats at times that I can't take this seriously. I liked a few moments of some tracks; Stand the Rain and Risk My Life are some highlights. I love you Tommy but this shit is so distorted it sounds like a demo, and the soulja boy synth is corny af... go back to Alligator :(
love you charli but you really neutered this one
rating everything brian does from here on out besides releasing an album a 0

I'm not going to rate this quite yet because I am a big Magdalena Bay fan, but the vocal melodies didn't pop on first listen nearly as much as they did on Mercurial World for me. I remember walking away from that record with multiple hooks stuck in my head and replaying it over and over. There's definitely incredible moments on Imaginal Disk, but there weren't many compelling earworms. I'm sure it will grow on me with a few more listens, but I feel they may be slightly ... read more
