Avenged Sevenfold - Nightmare
80

This was actually the first time an AI prompted me to review an album, and honestly, it was a fantastic suggestion. I was trying out Spotify's new AI DJ when "Natural Born Killer" (the "hidden gem" of this album, by far) came up, and I just had to go and listen to the rest. What a brilliant album this was! I am definitely going to do more Avenged Sevenfold reviews in the future. They are a great band, give them a listen

Pride & Glory - Pride & Glory

Didn’t even know this existed but I’m glad I ended up finding out about it. I’m a big Zakk Wylde fan, so I was always going to have a good time with this. To be honest it’s southern feel surprised me in a nice way. It’s not something I’m used to listening too but the way it’s done in this project is quite nice. I also love the way you can feel the roots of BLS in this even amongst its hard rock tracks. Overall, really fun project that shines its ... read more

Black Label Society - Engines of Demolition

This album is exactly what you expected it to be. I'm quite the fan of BLS, but I think they tend to make songs that, at times, simply sound indistinguishable. Still, given that the album is really nice throughout, it isn't something that bothers me too much. The singles were great, but unfortunately, they could not save the best track (in my opinion) for the album release, "Name in Blood", it would have been a great surprise. Overall, not to repeat myself, it's ... read more

Alice in Chains - Facelift

A massive debut. "Man in the Box" and "Bleed the Freak" are absolute bangers. Some mid-tracklist songs feel like 80s metal leftovers and get a bit boring, but Layne’s vocals on "Love, Hate, Love" are incredible. A hell of a start to their journey.

Black Label Society - 1919 Eternal
70

Overall I’d reckon this album is an overlooked piece. Still I have to be bluntly honest and say that for all its good it has a lot of boring. It still managed to be a piece that deserves attention nonetheless, and one that shines its brightest on “Bridge to Cross”. Give it a listen, I’d say it’s a very typical Black Label Society experience.

Black Label Society - Stronger Than Death
80

This project has a good amount of absolute fucking bangers. From Rust to Just Killing time to Stronger than Death, it slaps in so many ways. Still it does fall short in a specific field, BLS' sound is so specific to them that i feel sometimes different tracks blend with each other and it takes a bit of the uniqueness away. Overall, good shit give it a listen, fucking Zakk Wylde what a goat.

Alice in Chains - Jar of Flies
75

A bit short for me but overall its a nice project from a band i should probably listen too more often. For me its one of those i think ill come back too and start to enjoy even more.

Metallica - Kill 'Em All
85

To me, the fact that this is the first album by a band is simply fucking incredible and speaks volumes about the career they eventually had. What an insane way to start your journey into Metallica.

Megadeth - Megadeth
80

This album is surely going down as an underrated piece. I like it. I’ll admit I’m biased as fuck, but it’s a Megadeth album with a billion solos. It’s exactly what you would want from them. So here’s a mini review of each track.

- Tipping Point has an incredible riff.
- The solos on I Don’t Care are clear callbacks to other Megadeth tracks, and they feel great.
- Hey God?! is okay. To be fair, it’s a bit catchy. Not incredible, but it seems fun as hell ... read more

Alter Bridge - One Day Remains

This album is okay, and somehow, in an OK album, it is fucking Metalingus. As soon as you hear Metalingus, it is hard not to start spearing everyone you see and making crazy Edge stares. Anyways, it's not bad; it just doesn't shine as brightly as it does at its peak. Regardless, it's a cool album with incredible vocals.

Alter Bridge - Alter Bridge
80

What a way to start the year! Alter Bridge dropping a very very nice album to make me a very happy man. This album is great from beginning to end. The first 4 songs are a great run to start, their simply incredible and the rest just keeps up the energy. For me, this album only misses once and that is on “Hang By A Thread”. Still I highly recommend listening to it.

NSG - The Big 6
70

Although it fails to reach the heights of previous NSG projects, “The Big 6” is still very much so a party ready NSG album. It brings the expected energy and a long run time (going on for almost an hour). I absolutely love these guys and recommend this project to anyone who likes a good beat. You start with this and then you do a crescendo to their better projects.

Black Tooth Grin - Blossom & Decay
60

I like it; I can see a bit of what they are, but they feel like a lesser version of Black Label Society's sound. To be completely honest, I feel like the vocals themselves aren't really good. They are not bad by any means, it's just that I feel more could be done when it comes to them. Give it a try; if you like BLS, you might just let this slide by.

In Flames - Clayman
85

Edit: What a fucking album, new rating 80 => 85

The riffs, the instrumentals, oof, I love it. I'm starting to think these guys might be my new jam. What a great band. Not as good as Forgone (for me), but I might change my opinion on my next couple of listens. Still, do give this a listen, very fucking nice stuff.

In Flames - Foregone
85

Edit: I'm pretty addicted, new rating 75 => 85

First time listening to In Flames! I have to admit I only heard of these guys because I recently followed Chris Broderick on Instagram, and he posted a concert picture on his stories (which got me intrigued). Let me tell you something, entertaining music, Melodic is definitely the correct word to describe these guys. Energetic, Aggressive and Beautiful, that's how I'd put it. Anyway, give In Flames a chance. I know I'll be ... read more

Audioslave - Audioslave

What the fuck, Pitchfork?

The album is good, I wonder why Pitchfork would say it's "retarded". Great vocals and interesting tracks. I'm not the biggest Tom Morello fan (in terms of weird guitar sounds), but I can't help but appreciate his work in this project. Overall, I'd reckon it's a solid ass fucking album, I'd go as far as saying it's underrated in AOTY. Give it a chance; you might be pleasantly surprised.

Soundgarden - Superunknown
85

Damn, I’m glad I gave Soundgarden a second chance, what a banger of an album. There are plenty of highs throughout this project (my personal favourite is Fell on Black Days), and you’re bound to find a few more tracks that really stick with you. Give this one a listen, it’s a must-hear album.

St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra - Great Waltzes
50

Most random Spotify suggestion I have personally ever gotten.

Alice Coltrane - Journey in Satchidananda
70

On it's own it is an interesting piece but for me (a person who barely listens to jazz) it is a bit too spiritual, when I would prefer something more groovy. Still I'll give it a 70 because I'm evaluating it based only in itself and not on the genre or my jazz preferences. Give it a listen, you won't feel like you have wasted your time.

Megadeth - United Abominations
65

I mean it's just one of those okay/good albums, that is mostly forgettable. I will say that Sleepwalker and Gears of War are fucking great tracks but, otherwise it's just normal tracks with some nice moments. A special note for À Tout le Monde (Set Me Free) which is unnecessary and I'd much rather listen to the original. Overall, I´d say this project isn't on the Megadeth must listen list.
