Finally starting my black midi journey and it's surprisingly hard to put into words.
I am faced with a dissonance between the metallic, dynamic instrumentals and the accessorizing vocals, but not in a negative sense. I am, rather, left in slight awe, in curiosity. It's like looking through a portal. Certainly one of a kind listening experience, can't wait for what's next!

A lot of post-rock glazing around here, but GY!BE will never be part of that discussion.
Feeling has materialized.
Disk 1 managed to finally submerge me into the universe swans is constructing, and its liminal quality enchanted me. However, Disk 2 makes me fall back into the previous sentiment of passiveness (except YRP) that results in more confusion rather than disturbance.
A significant upgrade from Children of God, through its gothier, folk sound achieving a much better "cinematic" soundscape. The mixture of lightness and somberness on a grandiose fond turns out to be rather beautiful. Enjoyed this one quite a bit!
See, I do think it's something great about this, especially for 1987. However, everything about this feels like an "almost". Almost heavy, almost immersive, almost sinister; yet none of those. Vocals are deep and slow, but not stylistic enough to transpose you into character. Instrumental has some moments that spike intrigue, however doesn't hit the disgust a heavy record would have, nor does it play too heavily with the environment of the story.
