My phone is at the bottom of a lake so the most logical thing I did was buy a Lorde CD of Pure Heroine from a local vinyl and CD reseller. Nothing quite captures the teenage wonder and gusto like Pure Heroine does and it has my 25 year old self nostalgic for the tumblr aesthetic and what it once was to be in high school with the whole world open before you.
I'm not going to lie I didn't even have to listen to the rest of the album to know that I would love this one. I'm just that much of a slut for gothic folk with fun and unique guitar hooks and bridges. I love songs that just ooze emotion and feeling and this album very much succeeds at that for me
A serene and peaceful ambiance/slowcore album with emo undertones that play nicely in the ears. Was mostly listening while multitasking and it was indeed an enjoyable listen! Not much there though for those who aren't into the genre.
This is a FANTASTIC album. I have been thinking about this one consistently for the last week and I am so happy this showed up on my radar. Although the inconsistency can be jarring for most, there is something so intriguing and appalling about being able to take sounds, techniques, and elements across multiple genres of music and turning those sounds into a very cohesive and UNIQUE project. Looking forward to the future of Maruja!!!
