I don’t have the nostalgia for this album like a lot of people do. I also have the hindsight of knowing what Kanye would go on to do, and I prefer a lot of his other work over this, but this is still a great debut. It’s interesting listening to this now knowing what Kanye has done with his public persona, because you can see an interesting connection between him now, and the pros and cons throughout this record.
I don’t think it’s bad, I think the second half has some more memorable songs. Very good album. I think she has something really great in store for the future.
Despite the title, it’s probably one of the more fun debut albums to exist.
With the exception of “Defeat”, this album doesn’t have as many high points compared to Time Skiffs, but I think it’s a more consistent record.
Although it isn't my personal favorite like with many fans, this undeniably has some of their best production and compositional work. Some of the most beautiful moments of their career can be found on this record.
I don’t love it, but I appreciate the experimentation. I do also genuinely enjoy much of the record.
It's a breath of fresh air that this isn't bloated and inconsistent like FIOE. Unfortunately, it never has the highs of that album either.
First half is pretty good and then the second half dives off a cliff. Loses all momentum.
Impressive musicianship across this debut record. Not a single song on here that isn’t at least great.
