Kanye West - The College Dropout

I don’t have the nostalgia for this album like a lot of people do. I also have the hindsight of knowing what Kanye would go on to do, and I prefer a lot of his other work over this, but this is still a great debut. It’s interesting listening to this now knowing what Kanye has done with his public persona, because you can see an interesting connection between him now, and the pros and cons throughout this record.

I don’t think it’s bad, I think the second half has some more memorable songs. Kanye isn’t an interesting personality anymore, and I think that contributes to the album feeling pretty boring and lifeless. Kanye still has talent, so I don’t think any of the songs are necessarily bad here, it’s just got a lot of mediocrity. I also think this isn’t a good collab. Father John Misty - Fear Fun

Despite the title, it’s probably one of the more fun debut albums to exist.

Animal Collective - Isn't It Now?

With the exception of “Defeat”, this album doesn’t have as many high points compared to Time Skiffs, but I think it’s a more consistent record.

Animal Collective - Time Skiffs

I think time will be very kind to this album.

Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion

Although it isn't my personal favorite like with many fans, this undeniably has some of their best production and compositional work. Some of the most beautiful moments of their career can be found on this record.

Animal Collective - Danse Manatee

I don’t love it, but I appreciate the experimentation. I do also genuinely enjoy much of the record.

King Krule - SHHHHHHH!

An incredible collection of B-Sides from an excellent album.

It feels like they are running in place with this following Angles.

The Strokes - Angles

It's a breath of fresh air that this isn't bloated and inconsistent like FIOE. Unfortunately, it never has the highs of that album either.

The Strokes - First Impressions of Earth

First half is pretty good and then the second half dives off a cliff. Loses all momentum.

Lightning in a bottle.

Black Country, New Road - Ants From Up There

Without a doubt, one of the best albums of the 2020s.

Black Country, New Road - For the first time

Impressive musicianship across this debut record. Not a single song on here that isn’t at least great.

King Krule - Space Heavy
100

King Krule’s best work to date.
