you know what? no. im done being a hater. no more negativity. this is a great album. its time to be positive on an album of the year dot org review for once.
i have no preconception of redveil in the slightest, the most ive seen of him is his palestine stuff, which already made me like him. this was my first time listening to his music, and its actually some really good jazz rap. flows are nice, and production is even better. i wanna particularly highlight ... read more
yes guys please keep giving this a 100 yes we are all so funny and original and humorous har har
this album is really weird.
this vaporwave record has been described as "A very nice X'mas irony megamix that's sure to resurrect memories of conspicuous holiday consumption." now, i have no personal connection to anything christmas related, seeing as to how i was not raised christian, nor do i live in a country that celebrates christmas to the degree that can be seen here. even still, i have a lot to say about this.
a lot of this album consists of many classic christmas ... read more
this album definitely has some cool ideas, especially the horror-adjacent violins in the beginning of the album that mellow out at broken ballad, but theres definitely room for improvement. space prophet dogon has a more traditional post rock structure, starting out more mellow and then crescendo-ing towards the end, and i would probably consider it my favorite on the album behind broken ballad. this album eased me in a calming and comfortable way, definitely one of the more underrated post ... read more
you know what, i'll give it to you.
danny brown is one of those artist that's just eluded me for the longest time. i wasn't the biggest fan of either of his albums ive already heard, those being atrocity exhibition and quaranta, heavy emphasis on the latter. what i did enjoy a tremendous amount was his collab album with jpegmafia, another one of the artists that eluded me.
i heard the two singles before the album came out, after learning it would be different to his usual work, ... read more
i have little to no experience with anything florence + the machine, other than dog days are over at the end of guardians of the galaxy 3, as well as on taylor swift's florida! from last year's ttpd, which i considered my favorite on the album.
this album is... good, but its not really too special. this album certainly has some ideas, but it doesnt delve into them as deeply as it should have for it to be effective. many of the tracks feel forgettable, and only two songs really stood ... read more
easily dave's best
dave has always been an artist that has just eluded me. i found out about him after seeing a video comparing him to little simz, in which the comments were vehemently on the side of dave, but i just didnt really see it. he had some excellent songs, most notably heart attack, but i saw him being several steps below simz.
with the release of the boy who played the harp, i can understand some of the comparisons. many of these songs were deep and honest, with some ... read more
w-weezer? you mean to tell me that you listen to weezer? you are such a loser virgin! only loser virgins who get no hoes and are shut in their rooms for their entire lives are weezer fans! everyone, ridicule this involuntary celibate idiot loser!
in all seriousness, yeah this album is great. some of the most loser geeky bullshit to ever hit the mainstream conscious (hell, he talks about x men characters), and damn is it good. everyone's heard buddy holly and undone and say it aint so four ... read more
not the biggest fan of mogwai but this is some great shit. did not expect this out of a band i usually find basic and derivative. on the short side of post rock albums in terms of track time, making it accessible for many, and i would probably show this to a person first getting into post rock. kids will be skeletons, ratts of the capital, and i know you are but what am i are some great tracks i take out of this.
did not expect to like this as much as i did going in. the only experience i have with teezo touchdown is with modern jam off utopia, which was my favorite song off of that album, but the average user score made me apprehensive to the contents of this album. safe to say i was pleasantly surprised with the amount of creativity teezo displays on this album, especially on UUHH, that pre chorus is incredible. i cant wait to see how he develops on more of his solo projects (this man has too many ... read more
'cant be all my fault' might genuinely be the worst song ive ever heard in my life
pissing off rabid swifties while simultaneously dropping a banger single in the same week is something that only black thought can do, thats the goat fr

insert original joke about biting here
lovejoy is one of those bands that I used to listen to a lot and then just slowly stopped, partly because of the controversy around their lead singer wilbur soot as well as just me enjoying this type of indie rock less and less, but i decided to revisit them because of the release of their first lp. its not exactly the way i remember them, but there's definitely some artistic development here from their last three eps. its fun and enjoyable, but many ... read more
in all fairness, this is undisputedly better than the tortured poets department.
i would call myself a causal fan of taylor swift. most of her albums to me are more average, with the distinct exception of speak now, which is a great album, as well as reputation and ttpd, both sub-par in my eyes. theres also... everything in between. and unfortunately i think that this album will fall under the 'everything in between' umbrella.
i enjoyed many of the songs on here, particularly ... read more
2025 hasn't been the best year for pop music. many great pop albums this year, notably the new kesha and miley cyrus, went largely ignored by the general public, and what HAS been in the limelight (the benson boone, sombr, anxiety, sabrina carpenter) has been less than satisfactory.
sadly, i dont think that's gonna change with this new zara larsson album. the landscape is so full of medioce homogenized, for the lack of a better word, slop, and albums that dare to break out of the ... read more
listening to this, its clear why mick wanted them for fleetwood mac, and what a good decision that was. this album shows so much potential, potential that was fulfilled with fleetwood mac. a lot of these songs sound like early cuts of songs from the fleetwood self titles, and even rumours. i particularly enjoyed frozen love and long distance winner, both with some really great guitar solos from lindsey.
pretty good, but i kinda expected it after jealous type. this entire album has such a nice energy, and the songs are just fun. my particular highlights were gorgeous, take me dancing, silly! fun!, and one more time. what i did find some issue with is that some of it can feel a little repetitive towards the end, with many of the songs sounding very similar and not leaving any meaningful impression. definitely her best and most consistent project yet, and i will definitely be returning to this in ... read more
lola young with a contender for the worst track titles of the year, in a year where taylor swift is releasing an album, truly incredible stuff
yeah this album is just really great, although there is a little bit of filler in the middle which i didnt really care about. other than that, can we ignore it, dealer, and penny out of nothing are all great efforts from lola young, amounting to a great album.
