Jamie Paige - Constant Companions
95

i found jamie paige through birdbrain around 7 months ago, in that review i mentioned how she is probably going to be my obsession for a year. I in fact was right. With Jamie p being by first proper introduction to vocaloid music holy shit have my standards for this genre been put across the roof, how she makes teto and the other voice banks throughout this project sound so lively and human when their main appeal was kind of inhuman like they sound, and the amount of time that must've ... read more

Magdalena Bay - Unoriginal / Black-Eyed Susan Climb

whoever is saying these singles are the weaker bunch is fucking crazy how can you NOT fuck with indie rock, i do think other songs from them have better pacing but holy shit is this the most fun ive had listening to them

Logic - No Pressure

this is definitely a inflated score to some extent, even though this album isnt exactly perfect its still such a nostalgic album to me, i loved this when it came out. and i still love it, amazing care free rapping and its the first time in awhile logic sounds truly free

Jamie Paige - BIRDBRAIN

holy shit i found this on a random shuffle holy shit this chorus is so lit its so fun im obsessed (i know this artist will be my phase for the rest of the year)

JID - God Does Like Ugly
85

a great showcase of jids rapping skills and more, while some tracks are whatever and dont really speak to me, the features and performances all do their part and make the album feel very consistent. while this album has alot of storytelling and personal remarks the raw and hungry energy from jid breathes new energy in this album compared to TFS, however because of that also it doesnt feel nearly as timeless as TFS is to me. so while in general id say the highs on this album are so much bigger ... read more

Tyler, The Creator - DON'T TAP THE GLASS

yeah my expectations were dropped cause wdym this guy made a DANCE album

i honestly cant say anything else but that this album does wanna make you dance, i dont remember moving so much in an album that is so refreshing for tyler. by the 9th album you'd think he start to sound alittle repetitive in terms of sound; 'this song sounds like igor' or 'this has flowerboy energy'. But its almost impossible to say that with this album. Stop playing with me, ill take care of ... read more

underscores - Wallsocket (Director's Cut)
95

the reason this is not 100 is because of how long it took me to truly get into this

Stupid (CRFTU) is deadass one of the BEST songs ive heard ever, and whats nice about it is how good these songs get in waves, i only got obsessed with geez louise after the album being on rotation for 3 months. and whats worse is that i cant even tell you why i love this album so much! this might be my first proper proper glitch/noise pop album so thatd explain my lack of words for how i feel. the choruses are ... read more

Clipse - Let God Sort Em Out

I couldnt really tell you why i like this album as much as i did apart from the fact that this album sounds so raw yet somehow feels so polished and contained (i mean that in a good way). also really impressive since its been what 16 years since the last clipse project? the beats, fire. the rapping, cold. the features, crazy. inglorious bastards has got to be one of the craziest beats ive heard this year. i really cant state how much i love the production here

My only like true complaint i ... read more

What made The Forever Story and subsequent albums so special to me was not only how JID made clever rhyming schemes and punch bars but also the substance behind said lyrics. A big example being sistanem for me, that song alone really proved to me that he was more than just a rapper that could rap really well

Im aware that GDLU is going to be more of a showcase of jids actual skill as a writer, as i feel like he is going to try and prove himself since he has always prioritized other aspects of ... read more

Addison Rae - Addison
45

production is nice but it feels hilariously shallow, an album that is all talk no show imo, no substance and feels very boring, some songs are lowkey kind of fire but considering how people were talking about this album on AOTY and on musicgram im kind of disappointed

I do get it comes from the fact that this album was not made for me, but in general ive heard alot more pop albums that are compelling through other factors even when lyrically falling short

Quadeca - FORGONE
100

i used to listen to quadeca from when he was still a YT rapper, when i obv grew out of that i stopped watching him. But as i got more into music again i was wondering where he ended up, that was alittle after he dropped scrapyard. needless to say after that i knew he was up to something great, but i never was expecting this to be it. my expectations for vanisher have some how risen already knowing what he is capable of with IDMTHY and the singles he already dropped.

This might actually be the ... read more

yeule - Evangelic Girl is a Gun

i love the entire aesthetic of this entire album and how its able to keep its sound consistent from beginning to end without feeling repetitive, i might need more listens since im still new to glitch pop but otherwise most of this album is so fun to listen to, and the choruses are so catchy

John Michel - Egotrip
80

take anything i say about mixing with a grain of salt cause i recently started to adjust my eq settings but the mixing on vocals could be better, but apart from that sometimes you just need shit like this to exist: does it sound atad too repetitive? ok sometimes. does it lack depth? here and there. but the raw hunger that anthany james and john michel show on this album is nothing short of incredible: the instrumentation is heavy and powerful, the entire album has the same swag that a song like ... read more

McKinley Dixon - Magic, Alive!
90

i really dont get why everyone is saying the album picks up on track 6. watch my hands, sugar water, run pt 2 are all stunning production wise and mckinley sounds more hungry and raw even after massive praise on beloved? paradise? jazz!? but that doesnt take away from his rapping in later stages of the album; magic, alive! and couldve been different being the best 2 tracks out of the entire album

wish i could say more but its been awhile since ive posted on this account and i want to gradually ... read more

JPEGMAFIA - All My Heroes Are Cornballs

This album honestly is just really fun.

After listening to this album for a while and really getting a feel for how Peggy comes off in this album, the criticism that I heard from ILDMLFY makes a lot more sense now in retrospect. While JPEG is able to come off as sassy and aggressive towards haters, he still shows off a lot of personality, which isn't just hating, whether that be from his verses or production and so on. However, for ILDMLFY, its general sound is super aggressive, with ... read more
