CALM is 5 Seconds Of Summer's fourth album, and their first album released in the quarantine, and honestly what was in the air during this year that made people suddenly make some of their best pieces of work?
Anyways, I just adore this project. It somewhat continues the same sound first introduced in Youngblood, being this sort of psychedelic pop rock, but this time I feel like they fully perfected this sound. Their voices from the starting track, Red Desert, is such an uplifting sound ... read more
So, as many people in 2018, the song Youngblood was playing everywhere from the car radio to the bowling alley, it was by all means, a hit, and my first exposure to them. Other people knew them from She Looks So Perfect and She's Kinda Hot during the early stages of their career, for me however, like always, I was not informed of them until much later.
But let's talk about the actual music from this album now. This record was noticeably more pop influenced compared to their previous ... read more
Sounds Good Feels Good is actually so much better than I remembered it being originally. It has those same pop rock elements as their self titled, but it feels as if there was more depth added to these tracks, instead of feeling like a Disney Channel styled project...
To start off with possibly my least favorite portion of the album, being the first four tracks of the album. Money is my favorite out of this portion of the album but they all just remind me of the lesser good tracks from their ... read more
Gives me mid 2010's kids/teen movie that looking back on was not outstanding but has charm!
For this I will be referring to the deluxe edition as it does save this record, especially two specific tracks!
I honestly did not know what to expect when doing my relisten to this record, I vaguely remembered a few tracks like Don't Stop and Kiss Me Kiss Me but really any song that was not a single did not stick with me. What I did know about this album was that it was definitely the album ... read more
After recently buying some 5SOS CD's from my typical thrift shop outings, I decided to finally do myself a favor and rediscover their entire catalogue, so of course I started from the very beginning with their debut EP, (I'm saving all live/unplugged projects for last.)
While I have listened to this EP before it is by far the project that I have streamed the least, and not for any major issue, I just gravitated towards their full length studio projects instead. So I was very curious ... read more
Look at me being late to another album again... who's surprised really?
Like many other people I was there for the whirlwind that was the release of Espresso, and oh my god it was such a culture shift for summer music honestly, and then with the other singles released right after like Please Please Please and Taste, they just became even bigger and you could not go outside without hearing at least these three songs once!
It is such an insane blow up that looking back on where she was ... read more
Like a lot of people, I got into Sabrina's while this album was coming out. And I’m so glad I did, because this is one of my favorite albums of all time.
She really was the most vulnerable she’s ever been in this project and that added so much character to this album.
For the original track list I pretty much loved every single song, Skinny Dipping was my only one where I just liked it, but it didn’t take away my enjoyment from the album. And that applies to the deluxe ... read more
This was the project that had the first ever Sabrina song I listened to, which was Looking At Me, a very almost Latin type dance song that just blew my mind when I first listened to it back then. I did not listen to this record until years later but knowing that one song made me have very high expectations, and after listening to the first act of Singular, my hopes were even higher, and well it just unfortunately did not live up to my expectations really.
As a project on its own, it’s ... read more
With this record, we make it to what I like to call the silver age of Sabrina, we are beginning to get to the Sabrina we all know and love now but see her break away more and more from that Disney image. Both acts of Singular are what amde me notice Sabrina as an artist, with specifically this one being Diamonds Are Forever which will always be a classic in my library.
I mean she really outdid herself with this album, she grew into her own sound and it’s so satisfying to hear. This album ... read more
Ok we are finally getting to the good parts of her discography!
For a second album she already grew so much artistically, and believe it was really needed. Practically all the issues I originally had with Eyes Wide Open were fixed immediately with this project. The production, lyricism, all of it has improved drastically from Eyes Wide Open. And it is still shocks me how quickly she was able to improve in such a short amount of time between projects.
The album does lean towards a somewhat ... read more
I’m relistening to Sabrina's discography since I STILL haven’t listened to Short n’ Sweet and want to have a better scope of her music. And starting off with this was a… interesting and a well, very basic start if I'm being completely honest. I do remember really not vibing with this record previously so much that I just decided to ignore it and not even count it towards her actual discography... which you know what I might still do that.
For the positives, I ... read more
