Poppy - Stagger
75

I do not have much history with this EP, I listened to it whenever it first came out and and never really listened since then. Looking back at this, I could see what she was going for, a somewhat pop-punk sound mixed with electronic until the final and track which uses a more natural instrument, a regular acoustic guitar, and is much slower.
Overall it is a really nice project, a few complaints could be said with some of the melodies especially in tracks like "FYB" and ... read more

Poppy - Flux
100

To frankly put it, Flux is by no doubt my favorite project by Poppy, it has so much charm in its lyrics to its production, and just the way she uses her voice sounds so great with the effects on the mic especially the screams.
While it has some similarities to "I Disagree" and "EAT", it really differs from them in so many ways. For one, all the tracks apparently were all recorded live in one take, which is just an impressive thing to just accomplish, I've only heard a ... read more

Poppy - EAT (NXT Original Soundtrack)
100

I will admit that this EP had to grow on me at first, when I had my initial listen a few years ago I was not used to her screaming for practically an entire song, only for like a bridge or final chorus, so other than a handful of tracks the only track I had on repeat at first was the title track "EAT".
Of course I grew up a bit and my ears grew too, so I was a little more used to more harsh sounds than I was before and wow, I just really love this project. It probably is her heaviest ... read more

Poppy - I Disagree (more)
100

Words cannot describe how iconic and just legendary this record was for not only her career and artistry but also just her as a person. It really feels like the most human she has been ever since "Bubblebath" years ago, and it is just a refreshing sound that she really has been pushing very slightly since the end of her previous record "Am I A Girl?". It is a very heavy album with many loud and blaring guitars and beats but she made sure to not oversaturate its welcome by ... read more

Poppy - Choke
95

"Choke" is Poppy's second EP following the release of her sophomore album "Am I A Girl?", it mostly focuses on these dark and almost alarm like synths and trap, with some metal elements later incorporated in the track "Scary Mask". It is such an outlier in her discography with practically nothing released prior or after its release sounding like it, the closest being "I Disagree" and strangely enough "Zig" as well. It is not shy to delve ... read more

Poppy - Am I A Girl?
100

I ask that question every day Poppy, it's been 7 years and I still don't know.
Anyways.
"Am I A Girl?" is practically the improved version of her previous record, "Poppy.Computer", with keeping this robotic popstar persona, but making pop perfection that slowly transitions to rock then metal flawlessly somehow! While this album has many synths just like the previous record, it uses them more in better and more interesting ways that makes the record more engaging to ... read more

Poppy - Poppy.Computer

The one and only internet girl to ever exist and we should be grateful.
We finally get Poppy's debut album and does it hold up after almost a decade? Yeah, as well as it could be. This record makes sense for the character she was presenting at the time, very robotic, monotone at times, and does not provide much depth in lyrics most of the time. Out of all the records she released, excluding the noise albums but let's be honest who even remembers them, this is probably her least ... read more

Poppy - Bubblebath

I have had my eye on Poppy for a few years now, since 2017 I believe with people making these insane theories about her and her music career just starting basically, which as at least two years before I started to listen to music as a regular hobby. So I would say that this project brings me a lot of nostalgia, especially the two singles "Lowlife" and "Money" which were on repeat on the daily! But it took me around two years to actually fully listen to this EP, and my god if ... read more

Mariah Carey - Here For It All
95

My first Mariah album as a new fan and my god I'm so pleasantly surprised. So to start off, ever since Mariah posted that teaser for the album's lead single, Type Dangerous, I kept my ears and eyes open for any new teasers, I loved that original snippet and was so excited for it to finally release, and when it did... well it did sort of let me down. As mentioned previously, I really liked that snippet, and to find out it was only for the intro, I was a little sad if I'm being ... read more

Mariah Carey - Caution
100

And as quickly we began the 2010's for Mariah, it ended much faster with this being her final album for this decade, which is unfortunate because I adored the sound she was going for with this record. This soft synth-y RnB vibe suits her so well and she sounded incredible on every single track.
We start off with GTFO (I will always consider that the lead single for this project, I never understood why With You as chosen instead, I know it was only a promo single but it still makes me ... read more

Mariah Carey - Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse (Deluxe)
70

Mariah's first true entry into the new decade, and no, Merry Christmas II You does NOT count. Anyways... this is a strange album for me as it came out at a strange time in music in my opinion, it was kind of a free for all for what sound was trending, one week could be filled with EDM and the next could have been a folk pop song from an obscure band that disappeared the second it was 2015. And for Mariah, she decided to just do multiple sounds and shove them inside an album. And it works! ... read more

Mariah Carey - Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel
90

Maybe one of her most underappreciated albums, and my god is that a shame that people do not recognize how campy and seriously gorgeous this record is! Memoirs is such a great late 2000's RnB album, it feels so delicate and peaceful to listen to and I just adore how she uses her voice in such light was throughout the album, it just sounds so sweet. It really just feels like walking in a downtown shopping center in the slightly cold fall air, which might be a reason why this album has such ... read more

Mariah Carey - E=MC²
100

E=MC2 is my favorite Mariah album, and no it is not even close
Of course, coming off of TEOM, the groundbreaking, record smashing, and career defining album that album is always recognized as, it would obviously be hard to replicate that records success, and while this album did add another number 1 to her ever growing long list, being Touch My Body, the other singles, and the album itself unfortunately did not live up to the critical acclaim that the previous record gained, but to me, critical ... read more

Mariah Carey - The Emancipation of Mimi (Ultra Platinum Edition)
100

Mimi is such a special project as it literally overshadows every other project that came before and after it’s release. And for good reasons!
The album is comprised RnB and dance music, and her belting vocals in every track really just clarifies to the public that after ten years of being in the industry, she still has it, this album was made for success. The tracks here really just blend together in such a gorgeous way, it's so cohesive and each track really just deserves its place ... read more

Mariah Carey - Charmbracelet
95

Yes I am hurrying my Mariah reviews as I have.... three hours left until the new album.. great! On time as always, anyways...
Charmbracelet is a very underappreciated record in my opinion, as we all know with the situation with Glitter and how she did not have a good relationship with the media, or the general public really, it is no surprise that no matter what she released right after would not be received well, and unfortunately that is exactly what happened. Charmbracelet is Mariah's ... read more

Mariah Carey - Glitter
90

Since the announcement of Mariah's new upcoming album, I have previously remade my previous reviews for her past records to allow myself to have more updated thoughts on them, so now here we on to Glitter!
This album is a mess. And I mean just the rollout because sonically I adore this record, I mean so many things were just against her at this time, the whole Firecracker situation, Tommy doing anything in his power to destroy Mariah's career, and the fact that it was literally ... read more

Mariah Carey - Rainbow
100

Some would say that after the storm comes a rainbow, for Mariah though it was the opposite, in such a drastic way… But let’s not talk about that right now! As for this record is a what? Another perfect Mariah record!
Rainbow is the final 90's Mariah album which I think really perfectly ends off the decade. It is a great mixture of RnB and pop and provides such great performances of Mariah's signature vocals.
Just as any other Mariah record from the 1990's, there were ... read more

Mariah Carey - Butterfly
85

Butterfly was a monumental shift for Mariah musically, while Daydream started to show her interest in urban music slightly, especially with some of the remixes for Fantasy and Always Be My Baby. And while there were hints inside those songs where she wanted to try to be a bit more experimental and have full control over her project, Butterfly fully embraced those sounds with open arms and is the first project where she is openly in charge with the decisions for this project.
I can tell this ... read more

Mariah Carey - Daydream
90

Mariah really began to have a breaking point with Sony Records around this time and this album is proof of that.
She started to want to lean into more of a urban and hip-hop sound and the lead single's REMIX did just that. I stream the Bad Boy remix of Fantasy is as much as the original track, genuinely it is that good! And knowing how Sony was so against her slightly going in the urban category, I can't imagine how people felt when that version was released alongside the original, ... read more

Mariah Carey - Music Box
100

Music Box was actually the first Mariah CD I bought while I was first listening to her. I had not listened to the album beforehand but I always had a feeling I would really enjoy this record and well... I was right!
This record did such wonders for Mariah when it was initially released, really just her being absolutely in her field. It is some of her best work in terms of lyricism, production, and vocals, and she really mastered the adult contemporary genre with songs like Dreamlover and Hero. ... read more
