Tourist History is a really fun indie rock album. It gives off such a nostalgic 2010 vibe that I love, and it also has some of the best instrumentation I've heard on an indie album like this. The melodies on all of these songs are super infectious and catchy, but in a memorable way and not an annoying one. There are a few forgettable tracks here, but this album does have one of my favorites indie tracks ever. What You Know is incredible, that melody can get stuck in my head for days at a time ... read more
This album is my first dive into Latin rock, and while I do think it's harder to enjoy an album that isn't in a language you speak, I still got a lot out of Canción Animal. The production was really nice, all of the songs sounded great. I also loved the psychedelic rock vibe this record gave off. There wasn't really anything bad here, every track was just really solid with a couple that stood out from a rest. Definitely a fun listen.

The fact that this album came out in 1980 is insane. Remain in Light is an incredible rock album with a ton of personality and super impressive production. There's so much happening in this album, but it all works so well. I wasn't a massive fan of the last three tracks, but everything else was super good and it was honestly pretty captivating. Deserves the hype, way ahead of it's time.

Listening to a two hour solo Beatle project without listening to a full Beatles album prior to it was probably not a great way to introduce myself to the band, but man this thing was great. There are so many fantastic songs here that are just so skillfully done, and the rustic acoustic sound of this album is really nice. I do think two hours is pushing the length, the last 5 tracks are just instrumentals after all, but they aren't bad by any means. Disc 1 houses the more well known songs from ... read more
Really random but a pretty good version of this song tbh. The original wasn't anything crazy but I like this strip backed version
Brenda Lee is a very well known face when it comes to 60s Rock & Roll. She has that's signature rasp in her voice that I'm a big fan of, and all of her songs have a ton of personality. As a whole, this record had some meh moments, but it was overall a pretty fun time. There was a healthy mix of upbeat rock tunes and some nice blues here as well. Definitely worth a listen, not completely for me but it was still charming.

I've decided to start a new series where I go through as many charted rock albums as I can from as many eras as possible. Rock music has so many different sub genres and I think it'll be interesting to see which ones become my favorite. No clue how long I'll be able to keep it up, but it'll be a fun challenge nonetheless.
I'm starting here in the 50s, will skip a decade until I end up back in the 50s. For example, my next album will be in 1960, then 70, 80, etc.
With all of that said, that ... read more
The Joshua Tree is without a doubt one of the most iconic albums of the 80s. Some of the most beautiful tracks ever in rock music are present on this record. Unfortunately, they're the first three tracks, and that's it. That's not to say the rest of the record is bad or anything, it just doesn't ever get back up to that standard. There's still some heat on this record though. I really liked Bullet to Blue Sky, Red Hill Mining Town, and God's Country, all great songs that flow really well ... read more
In Your Honor definitely had a lot of potential, but they had to make it an hour and a half π
There are a lot of great moments on this album, mainly on Disc 1. Songs like No Way Back and Best of You are some of the Foo's best songs in years, and there are a couple of really unique tracks on this record like Virginia Moon. However, so many of these things don't need to be here. Both of these discs would've been a better experience as two separate albums instead of cramming them all into one. ... read more
100 FOLLOWER REVIEW
Hey y'all, I just wanted to thank you for 100 followers! I've really enjoyed my time on this website and have gotten the chance to talk to so many great people, so I appreciate it a ton :). I thought I would review one of my new favorite albums of all time and one that has grown on me significantly in the past few months- Coldplay's A Rush of Blood to the Head.
This is the second studio album from the band and took their success from their first album and catapulted it ... read more
Hey @SnowyFighter, I've got to say I'm extremely impressed with your band's new album! When you let me know about it and I saw it was an indie rock record, I got really pumped, and I'm happy to say it delivered. The production and performance on this thing is incredible, I was extremely shocked to hear how good everything sounded. The vocals were also beautiful as well, everything blended together so nicely! Disjointed Worlds is seriously one of my favorite indie tracks of the year, and I loved ... read more
Ghost Stories, to me, was Coldplay's first album, Parachutes, with all of the personality and emotion taken out of it. A lot of these songs were reminiscent of that album and the band's second record to an extent, but they all fall flat and don't really go anywhere. I even felt this way with the highlight of the album, O, even though it was still really pretty. It never reached those magical highs that I love hearing from Coldplay. With all of that said, this album isn't awful. It's pretty at ... read more
The Bends is a really strange album to me. Some of it was kind of forgettable, some of it was pretty good, and some of it was fantastic. The front half of the record houses the more well known songs, but I was honestly a bigger fan of the second half overall. The last three tracks are fantastic, they encompass what Radiohead's sound would really be in the future the most. None of this record was bad, it was really just consistently good the whole time. Massive step up from Pablo Honey, and it ... read more
One by One is really the first time the Foos strike out in my opinion. Now this album is far from bad, but it really starts to lean towards the mediocre side overall. For me the main problem with this record was how repetitive it felt. That's not always a bad thing, but it isn't done well here. Tired of You was the same thing said like 5 times for 5 minutes straight, and some people might still enjoy that aspect, it wasn't really for me.
There are still some bangers here though. All My Life ... read more
I found Mylo Xyloto to be really underrated. This is the album where Coldplay completely ditched their signature acoustic sound for good and switched to a much more mainstream electronic vibe. I'm pretty confident this is the only time it really worked for them. This record is really fun, it's filled with a lot of really interesting things that the band hadn't tried before now. Enjoyed this one a lot more than I expected, and if I had to guess it's probably their last good album.

Honestly, Pablo Honey was a lot better than I expected. It was kind of just your average rock album from the time period, which might be boring to some, but for me that's far from a bad thing. There are definitely some boring tracks in the middle of the record like Ripcord and Prove Yourself, but besides those I really didn't dislike any of these songs. The beginning and end of this album are great as well and pull the whole thing together. Is it underwhelming compared to the band's later ... read more
I decided to listen to this album after going through Nirvana's three main records, but I had no idea what to expect going in to this listen. This song selection was certainly not what I had in mind, but I'm definitely not complaining. This is a beautiful performance, filled with some of Nirvana's best performances of all time. I loved all of the covers, it added a sort of anticipation knowing they were coming up in the tracklist. Where Did You Sleep Last Night? was stunning, I was not ready ... read more
I've got somewhat mixed feelings about Nirvana's debut. It's still pretty good overall, but I wasn't really feeling about half of this record. The screaming didn't work on this album like it's worked on the band's later projects in my opinion, so it lowkey felt kinda awkward to me. The bangers here really bang though, the opening track Blew feels like it came straight out of Nevermind. About a Girl is a classic too, even the original goes so hard. Overall, a pretty good debut from Nirvana, it ... read more
When I hear someone mention 90s rock, I can't help but think of this album. Yourself or Someone Like You is a pretty iconic alt rock album, with a couple of hits that catapulted Matchbox Twenty's career. This record is very consistent, everything flows really well. 3AM and Push are easily the highlights here, but a couple of the other deep cuts are great as well. I really loved Argue and Long Day, they just had that something extra over a lot of these other songs. A very solid album, super ... read more
