Mac DeMarco - Five Easy Hot Dogs

These tracks names are definitely some of the cities of all time, gotta admit the portland sequel was πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

For real though, there are some nice sounds and vibes on this album. They all sound the same though and I don't remember most of what I heard after listening to this

Ava Max - Diamonds & Dancefloors
50

I have fallen very far behind in 2023 releases, so I thought I would go back to January and give a listen to some of the biggest ones. Starting out with Ava Max, this was an alright listen. There was some really fun tracks in the first half, but after that things started to get pretty dull and boring. It was like listening to Dua Lipa except I was zoning out half the time and not paying attention. That's the mark of a pretty mediocre album to me, however the last song was pretty fire. Ava has ... read more

Smash Mouth - Fush Yu Mang
80

Fush Yu Mang is just such a fun album. It's corny, some of the songs are really stupid, but that's what makes it so great. Every song here is truly unique, with a different sound or vibe that switches it up every track. A couple of the songs are a little obnoxious for sure, but it fits in the context of this record and doesn't really ruin it for me at all. You'll have a blast with this one, it's definitely underrated and probably Smash Mouth's best work.

Laufey - Bewitched
80

I was introduced to Laufey with some of her songs from the 2021 debut EP, so I was excited to check this one out, and it was great! Laufey's voice is absolutely beautiful, and the jazz instrumentals were amazing. I even loved the interlude, it segwayed into the second half of the album perfectly and was amazing. Even though this album is pretty slow and a little repetitive, it didn't bother me at all because of how good it all was. Excited to see what's in store for Laufey next.

Bruh this is insane, that second chorus is bone chilling

Olivia Rodrigo - GUTS
50

GUTS is basically SOUR but with more of the stuff I really didn't like about it. I can definitely say Olivia's vocal performance is great here, but the majority of the songs are either really boring ballads or High School Musical numbers that make me want to tear my eardrums out. With all of that said I can't deny that there are a couple of great tracks here. teenage dream in particular is probably her best song, and logical was nice too. Still not a fan, but I am curious to see what the rest ... read more

Coldplay definitely took a risk with this album, but wow it paid off. Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends is a massive step up from X&Y and sees Coldplay's songwriting and instrumentation pretty close to it's peak. The first six tracks are pretty great, but what makes this album a masterpiece are the last four. Viva La Vida was already one of my favorite songs, but listening to it in the context of the album elevated it to another level. Violet Hill took me a couple listens to get ... read more

Nirvana - In Utero
90

Took me a couple listens to really get into it, but In Utero is definitely up to the quality standard that Nirvana's previously album set. While I do prefer Nevermind, this album is still fantastic. Kurt's harmonies are great, the riffs are really good, and the emotion is top notch. I think Nevermind just has a more consistent tracklist, but this album can for sure outshine it at parts. Deserves the hype, great album.

Coldplay - X&Y
80

X&Y was definitely an endurance test at times, but it's sill a solid album at the end of the day. This album seems to try and combine the sound from the past two records and mix them together, but it kind of falls flat. For me, there's just too much happening and it kind of makes my brain spin. A lot of these tracks can be pretty forgettable, but there are definitely some redeeming qualities here. A lot of the choruses on this record are pretty solid, and there were moments that felt like ... read more

Miley Cyrus - Used To Be Young

Not really my type of song but I gotta say she did pretty good on this one. A little boring but she does sound great here

Olivia Rodrigo - SOUR
50

Since GUTS is coming out soon I thought I would listen to Olivia's debut, and I'll be honest, it was better than I expected.

I've really grown to dislike Olivia's music over the past couple of years, so I thought this album would easily go under a 5/10, but I can't deny how good some of the songwriting and vocals are on this record. With that being said, I dislike all of the hits here besides good 4 u, and honestly enjoyed the simple acoustic tracks on the ladder half of the album the most. ... read more

Third Eye Blind - Third Eye Blind
90

Now this is my kind of music. Third Eye Blind is a fantastic alt rock album with something for everyone. The hits are all amazing, and a lot of the deep cuts are really good as well. I really wouldn't say there's a bad track on this album, but there are some that are weaker than others. Some of the deep cuts like I Want You and Burning Man were a lot more lackluster, but besides that this was a great listen!

ReMark - Heaven's Apathy

Hey Remi, I gotta say I'm really impressed with this track! I find it really well produced, and the instrumentals are also great. I do think that first verse is a little uninteresting, but you really bring it back with the chorus. I love the layering on the chorus as well. Great job!

Guns N' Roses - Perhaps
65

This wasn't as bad as I expected from a band so old, but it isn't fantastic. The verses in particular kinda drag, but the chorus honestly goes hard. Not bad!

Nevermind has got to be the best rock album of the 90s. Pretty much every song on here is well known, and there's really just 0 misses here. It might not be the most emotional or the most heartfelt album out there, but it might just be the most fun.

Foo Fighters - There is Nothing Left to Lose
70

The Foo's keep their streak of good albums alive with their third LP! With that being said, I definitely think this is their weakest album up to this point in their discography. This album is super similar to their debut, with the production and mixing sounding pretty much identical. I think where this album falls short though is it's like of memorability. The beginning and end is really solid, but the middle section kind of drags a little. Still solid, there are definitely highlights ... read more

I hate this

As someone who doesn't like Olivia's music I thought vampire was ok, but this one is definitely not for me

γ‹γ‚γ‚Šγ‚ [Camellia] - crystallized

Camellia is an artist that's mostly known for super difficult rhythm game songs. I found out about Camellia from Beat Saber a few years back, and to this day some of his songs still hold up as the games hardest, whether it be official charts or custom. He has an official tracklist in the game, and two of the tracks off of this album are in it. I was never really drawn to other tracks from this pack, but I always loved the way songs from this album sounded. I never listened to this album in ... read more

The Strokes - Room on Fire

Surprising to say but this album honestly clicked more for me than Is This Is It. There are no skips here, every song has something going for it. My main gripe is how the songs run together, but besides that this album is amazing! Can't go wrong with banger after banger
