Maybe caught me in the wrong mood but the specific brand of kooky and whimsical that they go for on this album doesn't really hit for me. It's Piper-era Floyd but without all of the things I like from Piper. The monologues felt unnecessary as well. Instrumentally mostly fine.
I like Loretta well enough but the way the original is mixed, the instrumentals are quiet enough that the dial needs to be cranked up to clearly hear them, but her voice is ear-shattering over the top of them. Album is a fine collection of covers and a couple originals but the quality just makes it hard to want to come back to. Would love to hear a better mix of this one.
