I should say I’m not a Taylor Swift fan in general but approached this album with an open mind. Still, I think this is objectively bad music.
I think the reason Sombr is often called an industry plant is because that’s the only way to rationalize how such mediocre and bland music is this popular. Is he actually an industry plant? Maybe. But it doesn’t really matter because the music’s not very good. Just generic, faux-deep pop that appeals to the masses. It’s not offensive, but it’s boring as hell.
I don’t dislike the idea here, but the execution is pretty boring. Some highlights, but overall not a great listen.
A very good soundtrack while you're actually playing the game, but not very memorable outside of it.
Vraiment whee whoo whee whoo, mais surtout whee!
I normally have a soft spot for this type of music, but this just isn’t it. It somehow feels soulless while also full of itself. Very repetitive and uninteresting. However, there are a couple of bangers here that save the album from being truly bad.
AJR stepped up their game here, but it’s still boring and not worth listening to - just not as offensively bad as usual.
Byrne’s charisma and joy is contagious in this album. It’s heartening to see someone at his age remain so jovial. The music itself is okay. While it doesn’t reinvent his sound in any way, it wasn’t broken to begin with. I will admit that Byrne’s vocals do seem to be struggling a little.
This album will be used in inter-generational debates as evidence for why millennials suck.
I understand the appeal, but this is boring. Polished and inoffensive, but boring.
I almost don’t want to describe this album. Instead, just buy it and listen to it for yourself. I promise you will not be disappointed.
Billie has very successfully carved her own, unique place in modern music. That doesn’t mean the music is particularly good. Most of the songs here are vapid, bland, or even annoying (see 8). There are definitely some standouts, but more than half of the songs are easily skipped. Also, the stomp-stomp-clap percussion is very unappealing.
Panic! is a band that has branded itself as edgy and against the grain. However, It’s hard to listen to this and not hear painfully generic pop. This is the type of music you tell yourself is cool when you’re 14, and realize is massively uncool a few years later.
One of Tyler’s less interesting projects. Still, it’s a super fun listen with few dull moments.
