Music, as I see it, can be broadly defined as a series of sounds that evoke an emotion. Music, therefore, is most successfully executed if it can evoke genuine and deep emotion.
I have never listened to an album (album series) that has evoked emotion to the extent that this one has.
Pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this. The first track, though, is almost unlistenable. The high-pitched whine ruins it for me. But if you persevere and keep listening to the other tracks, I think you’re in for a treat.
It’s a true shame that Corey Feldman had to make an album this good. We, as a society, should be ashamed that we made this American icon produce such good music. We didn’t deserve his genius, but we demanded it and Corey begrudgingly delivered. I can clearly feel the rage against us that he portrays through his chilling vocals and complex lyrics. The production exudes deep, emotionally-dense concepts that cause the listener to reflect on their innermost fears. Corey is deeply ... read more
Pretty good and enjoyable enough. Not groundbreaking, but who would expect it to be? It’s interesting to me that nearly every song here has a substantially higher rating than the album overall.
Two standouts (The Wolf & Mr. Fear) among some pretty generic alternative dance / pop rock. There aren’t really any musical moments that wowed me, but also no standout poor moments. They’re all fine enough.
My main problem with the album, save for a few songs, is the lyrics. They just don’t make sense. They often feel like semi-random statements that don’t amount to anything. It’s makes it very difficult to relate to anything they’re saying on a deeper ... read more
Nothing about this album sticks out to me as “good.” That said, it feels like it’s right on the cusp of greatness. If most of the elements here were taken up a level or two (e.g., writing, sampling, production, and willingness to experiment), this would be amazing. As it stands though, it is not.
I am doing this simply to raise the rating on this EP. While I don’t think it’s worthy of 100 by any means, 13 is just absurd.
Forgettable, cookie-cutter pop at its best. Unlistenable noise at its worst. What makes this album so uniquely unappealing is that the main artist behind it is heralded as one of the most musically talented people in history.
It’s almost existentially dreadful to be reminded that this song actually exists
I guess it could just be that I do not resonate with this music as much as some, but I found this album to be a little bland. Not at all bad, but also not as perfect as many would suggest.
Punchy, groovy, strangely thought-provoking at times, masterfully produced, unsettling, and above all, beautiful. This album contains every element that a fan of new wave music could ever want.
