Excellent sampling and mixing. Very danceable. Though some tracks are definitely… shallow?
Mr. Bruce struggles to recreate the magic that was produced during his partnership with Chucks (R.I.P.).
This album demonstrates a significant departure from the sound of The Correspondents. Still, much of the nervous, freaky energy has been transferred to this new project. I can absolutely see this being a hit in the club, but listening outside of that environment is kinda rough.
When this first came out, I remember thinking it had some charm. It has not aged well.
I must be getting old because this makes me feel bad for kids these days
While it’s hard to appreciate “noise” music, Merzbow has certainly set the bar for the genre with this album. I am confident he was successful at conveying the feelings we wanted to convey here. But… it really is a painful and frustrating listen.
I really don’t understand the love for this album. Does it tackle a difficult but important topic? Yes. Is it ahead of its time? Maybe. Does it sound good in any way? No.
The first three songs are excellent. Some of
Bowie’s most danceable songs. The rest aren’t awful, but they seem like they’re just there to turn an EP into an LP.
This is hyperpop / zolo at its best. Ruthlessly crazy but every single sound is carefully designed.
