The album where Jacob really finds his sound. I feel like the energy he brings to the project is a nice change of pace that demonstrates a level of artistic maturity. With certain exceptions, this is his best written project, and worth a listen, then immediate relisten.
At only 5 songs, it's really hard to fault an album for overstaying it's welcome, but by song two I was checking the runtime. Jojo Siwa can't sing even on the most technical level, and even if you switch out the singer, this album is subpar dance pop. Not even worth it for the meme.
As one of the last few OneRepublic defenders out there, this album is mostly a miss. With a few exceptions, the songs here are either so generic and boring (Hurt, Serotonin) that they moonlight as lullabies for Imagine Dragons fans or they are painfully obnoxious (I Ain't Worried, West Coast, Mirage). Nothing here feels fresh or new. The best songs are still only "good OneRepublic songs" that fail to demand my attention. I hope this is the last of the boring Covid-era tracks that ... read more
The first half is a slog to get through (how many times does one man need to bring up Caitlyn Jenner?) but the second half adds a much needed change of pace. Still not enough to fully save the project but enough to add some songs to revisit (Fuel, Temporary come to mind).
The bigger issue with this album is the idea that Eminem still thinks he's a badass and everyone is trying to cancel him.
Marshall, you have to be relevant to be cancelled.
Main Character Syndrome meets BPD: The Album
Lyrically, this album is comprised of made up scenarios where Jax is the smartest person ever and always right while also being extremely insufferable and #sad.
Sonically, this album is a YouTube Ukulele tutorial combined with GarageBand rock presets that were mixed using Airpods and a broken iPad.
Something that needs to be heard to be believed. I never liked Victoria's Secret, but I kid you not it was the best song on this trainwreck of ... read more
Extremely entertaining with rock solid production. I feel like after the success of their first album, they just said "Alright, now let's do a REALLY silly one" and id be lying if I said the fun they are so obviously having on this project isn't contagious. The beats by Brae are top notch and punchy, which leaves me forgiving a lot of the corny lines and repetitive booty munching bars. I'm just mad I didn't make a project like this with my best friend first.
A fantastic album that unfortunately flew over my head in too many places. Something that I will need to revisit, but one of my more favorable experiences with Electropop. I'll give it some time and relisten when I'm in a better place with music.
EDIT: 78->92
Ohhhhhhh I get it now. My bad y'all
A mixed bag of tracks that loves reminding you that yes, this is an album for the theys and gays. I definitely will revisit Small Town Scandal, not sure about the rest of the tracks however.
A messy return to form that reminded me why I used to love this band. I just wish I didn't need to know 3+ hours of lore to enjoy the music to the fullest.
A lot of Conditions of a Punk feels like filler for the meat and potatoes behind Give Me Your Shoulders Pt. 1, but they also expose a theme of being vulnerable and in love, something that is messy and well represented here. I hope this auditory therapy session is over, however, and the band can get back on track with something better constructed.
An album that dives into the meaning of beauty whilst being the epitome of it all along. The real beauty was the friends we made along the way
This album would've topped the charts in 2007. The vocal performance by Grae makes up for the cliché instrumentation. Once she has a sonic identity that's unique to her, Hot Topic workers beware.
Calling this "high art" would be a stretch, but damn is it fun to listen to.
Cut out half the songs and it would still be mid. Drake does nothing original on this album, sounding more bored than ever before. He has become an imitation of himself.
