Quick review before her new album drops, Part 2/2
Talk about a surprise
An almost 5 minute long pop single (not just a song, an actual single!) from one of the biggest Gen Z pop acts in the big 2026?
I didn’t even think I could have ever hoped for that
Aside from the pleasant surprise in runtime, this song serves us Olivia Rodrigo’s lyricism at one of its best
The song explores her usual themes of insecurity and vulnerability in a very human and vulnerable way: when you try to ... read more
Quick review before her new album drops, part 1/2
Moving away from her grungy pop-rock style I thought she would never get tired of, Olivia Rodrigo showed us that she is an artist to stay, dropping a song reminding me somewhere of Chappell Roan’s “Good Luck Babe” but without the vocal acrobatics
Her lyricism is like usual really: teenage/young adult angsty feelings of shameless and complete love for someone
You won’t be able write a book about this song, but it ... read more
For my 150th review, I thought to delve into the highest rated album on this site and perhaps the most monumental rap album of the 21st century, if not of all time: Kendrick Lamar’s “To Pimp A Butterfly”
With over 50,000 ratings from users on this site, including a few hundred 0-bombers who have their reasons to hate on this album, this album managed to remain at the absolute top of the list of highest rated albums to have ever existed according to users on this website
And ... read more
An art piece, for real
Atmospheric, magical, downright supernatural
AOTY contender so far for me
A collaboration I didn’t know I needed, but now that I have it I’ll cherish this beautiful chaos forever
Thank you @Music_Review286 for the recommendation! It took forever but I’ve finally listened to this cultural phenomenon
The O’Connells strike gold once again
Billie Eilish reaches a fully matured and realised creative style with HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, giving us the most luscious production FINNEAS has given us yet and Billie her most impressive vocal runs in her career.
This album stands tall as a testament to Billie’s unyielding creativity and everlasting legacy as the ... read more
Re-rating and re-reviewing Ariana Grande’s magnum opus
From 88 -> 91
Not even half a year after the release of her fourth album “Sweetner”, Ariana Grande gave us “Thank You, Next”
Driven creatively by scandals including the Manchester bombing and Mac Miller’s tragic sudden death, Ariana gave us our probably greatest album she ever released and a true pop phenomenon with hits like the title track and “7 Rings” breaking records worldwide.
I ... read more
Speed-running Ariana Grande albums before “Petal” drops
It takes real self-confidence to drop your “most vulnerable song” (we can’t be friends) and still have the line “but at least I look this good”
This woman’s sense of self-worth is absolutely golden, I’m honestly jealous
Aside from absolute sass that at this point is just Ariana’s signature, this album has some of her most memorable and most forgettable songs in my opinion ... read more
A really solid lead single for Ariana Grande’s upcoming album “Petal”
A bit more melancholic and low-key than I initially expected from this pop icon, but it’s really good.
Can’t wait to hear the album
Disclaimer: I don’t count this album with the Reloaded tracks, if I would, my rating would be an 80
My god, talk about a mixed bag
With this album, Rihanna cemented herself as a cultural pop culture phenomenon with multiple hit songs that broke records
And if you strictly look at the singles, this might just be one of the greatest pop albums of all time
Umbrella, Don’t Stop The Music, Shut Up And Drive
Go over an a list of albums with that many hits and you’ll realise this ... read more
Ariana Grande
The ponytailed pop culture icon
Released the cultural phenomenon “Dangerous Woman” over 10 years ago
And honestly? It still holds up fantastically
With Ariana Grande essential tracks like “Side To Side”, “Into You” and the title track this album has some all-time pop song classics as well as a few lesser known gems like “Moonlight”
I will say, however, that I much preferred the songs where she didn’t have a feature
Even with ... read more
I love the more laid back style Charli has been taking lately as opposed to her more maximalist Brat and Wuthering Heights projects
Can’t wait for a new album if that’s what she’s planning next
But I’ll give her some time, seeing she just released a whole soundtrack in February this year
“Kid Krow” marks the beginning of Conan Gray’s career in music unlike any of the projects he did before. Drenched in melancholy, heartbreak talk, Daniel Nigro production and Gen-Z lyricism we are supposed to accept as being very deep
It’s not, but it doesn’t hurt the experience all that much.
Conan Gray delivers a melancholy vocal performance in his debut, keeping it airy, emotional and vulnerable which perfectly suits this album’s intended vibe. ... read more
Just 5 more great tracks of an already stellar album by the new Gen Z angsty pop princess
What’s not to love?
Robyn, as the dance-pop critical darling, fails to amaze me with this album apart from the first track “Really Real”, entering a monotonous slump of fine but not very interesting electropop music beyond the opening track in my opinion.
And just to be clear: I am a dance-pop, electropop and Synthpop enthusiast, yet this album failed the basic principle that makes a great electropop album in my opinion: novelty, energy and straight-up fun.
It’s not all terrible, in fact ... read more
Beyoncé’s self-titled album dropped as a surprise on December 13, 2013; marking a sharp artistic pivot away from her accessible vocal acrobat persona build up from “Dangerously In Love” through “4” into a mysterious, aspirational, and experimental artist willing to take artistic risks like a very few at her level of fame ever dared to take.
And through an access to incredible vocals, world-class songwriters, producers and collaborators spanning from her ... read more
Multi-instrumentalist, powerhouse vocalist, and apparently romantic (sex-crazed) music legend Bruno Mars came back dropping his first solo studio album since “24k Magic” almost 10 years ago already after scoring big with his collaborations with Lady Gaga and Rosé (there is no “Fat Juicy and Wet” in Ba Sing Se)
And honestly? It’s pretty alright
But I won’t sugarcoat it: I think Bruno Mars didn’t really care about quality when making this album ... read more
Part two of revisiting Olivia Rodrigo albums: “SOUR” edition.
The debut album that took 2021 by storm by the before relatively unknown Disney star Olivia Rodrigo, “SOUR” is exactly what you’d expect from an album promoted and marketed as it was:
An angsty teen pop rock album about heartbreak, regret, and loneliness inspired by the artist’s idol Taylor Swift, full of melancholy lyrical tropes that has been turned cliché at this point.
Only that ... read more
In honour of the highly anticipated upcoming album that has a name that’s way too long for me to type right now by Olivia Rodrigo, I thought it’ll be fun to revisit her past discography, starting with her second studio album “GUTS”
“GUTS” is, in my opinion, just a better version of the already stellar album “SOUR”. The anger and frustration of being manipulated by not only others but oneself too, social pressures imposed on the youth, and just ... read more
First thing first: thank you so much for 200 followers!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Ok now to the review
Kacey Musgraves’ “Golden Hour” has been on my radar and listened-to list for a while now, but it was only after listening to her perfectly fine but rather uneventful fifth album “Middle of Nowhere” that I thought about making a review on this album.
So here it goes:
In “Golden Hour”; happiness, hope, joy, love and biting criticism of manchildren are all ... read more
