This was actually less bland than i expected it to be, though it didnt commit to any of the ideas it had, except for the country stuff which was awful. In the end this is boring, bland, all-over-the-place in terms of album structure, and just sounds like another annoying girl with no taste anthem. Please please please stop making sad girl music I don't care 🙏
Lol camellia produced on this like he was just making a normal song and mori just hopped on
Now this one i got. Its hard, its raw, and its awesome. I actually got what this record was going for, something that i cant say about his previous project, which according to the reviews was supposed to be way better and bigger in scale. I enjoyed this more though. It had less to say than MMESYF, but imo said it better and more creatively. And ofc, its denzel so the production is top notch.
Stellar production, good flow, mid lyrics with some inexcusable bars mixed in. "Instead of counting sheep i be counting dollars" is lil mabu level. Don't entirely get the hype, loved the jazzy cuts on this though, and one of the only albums that actually gets better the further you get in, so thats good. John Wayne is ass though im sorry.
Tylers flex album is a fantastically enjoyable record that brings back a lot of the jazzy elements from Flower Boy, and improves on them throughout nearly every track. This was the first LP i ever got on vinyl, because i come back to this seemingly every month.
The features on this project are also a crazy highlight, which is cool considering the fact that I dint really fw most of the artists that are on this usually. Tyler and the team that worked on this really brought out the best in the ... read more
Yeah this is like one of the most artistic records, like, ever. Every track is crazy memorable, crazy catchy, and just generally crazy. ARE WE STILL FRIENDS? is one of the best songs i've heard.
Jazzy, colourful, bright, sexy record. Didn't really stick me with me for some reason, even after multiple relistens. Might do a bigger review once I've pinpointed my issue with this
The end of edgy tyler, SMUCKERS and DEATHCAMP go crazy though. Rest was alright, i guess.
Yo imma be real this like in rainbows but slightly less good and harsher
Was afraid this would keep the momentum and quality of the singles. It got better.
This album is so fun, bright, crazy yet introspective and sad, covering a very relevant subject to porter personally, that being his struggle with fame and having an audience and it wearing down on him. I disagree with fantano on Perfect Pinterest Garden being the worst one btw, it's actually been the track I've been coming back to the most of the entire project. I'll update this post once ... read more
This LP brought me nothing. It feels fake, theyve done this before and theres nothing this brings to the table in any way whatsoever. I've always believed that something boring is infinitely worse than something bad. Especially with bad music (sonically). This album isn't offensive, but it was mind-numbing, dumb, whiny, and one of the hardest sits I've had listening to a project this year. And to think I was almost gonna go see them in concert.
Don't really care if its "real authentic jazz" when it's as vibrant, flows as well and is mixed as good as this. Been playing this a ton ever since it released.
One of the most fun, electric, emotional, highly textural, varied and mind-blowing records i've ever had the pleasure of listening to. Hooked me by the first song and never let go. Probably my second most replayed LP of all time.
