It's no secret that K-pop is, largely, quite derivative. KiiiKiii's 'Delulu Pack' succeeds where many of their K-pop contemporaries appear to fall short, engaging its references through unabashed tact, fullness, and a rare sense of freedom. Its internet-ingrained trap pop rhythms and airy synths captivate through a lived digital fluency, embracing a cheeky smoothness often absent from the tryhard convolutedness that characterizes a lot of modern K-pop.
Things do not have to be extremely innovative, unconventional, or boundary-pushing to still warrant merit. We can laud the projects of tomorrow that find impressive ways of building upon the concepts of music, but we never fully liken to departing from listens that are just as familiar as they are good and enjoyable. I was just kinda bored :/ and I never felt allured or enmeshed in the soundscapes like with other notable ambient projects.
