Apparently, this is the best that J. Cole has to offer after reading like 3-4 worst-best articles regarding his discography.
The criticism that J. Cole gets are completely valid and are still demonstrated on this LP. The corny bars, safe beats, poorly executed themes, etc. ruin this album so much for me lol. There is so much better conscious hip hop music out there worth checking out.
Khalid’s music is quite catchy as it’s shown with some of the singles on this album. However, that may be the only tracks (Young Dumb & Broke, Location, 8TEEN) that caught my attention. The rest of the beats simultaneously sound underproduced and overproduced and the lyrics/vocals are such a dread to listen to when you’re trying to actively listen to the music.
